Just wondering if anyone can give me advice. I have a 1993 typhoon. When first starting/driving the truck (I live in WI so it’s cold outside then) the stock turbo gauge will stick just below the half way mark (almost pointing straight to the left) and the truck will run with very low power with the check engine light on. After driven for a while the turbo gauge will eventually drop back down, check engine light will turn off, and the truck and gauge seem to run normal. Just lately, when the truck warmed up and the turbo gauge dropped back down when accelerating the gauge would go up but slower than normal or not at all, causing the truck to sputter and shut off. This does not happen normally but happened twice. Also these problems only happen about half of the time, the other half I can start the truck and runs/gauge works fine right away. I am guessing that the diaphragm in the waste gate is sticking or the spring in that valve assembly is sticking. Also I have a small crack/leak in the front of the cat. converter where the exhaust pipe connects to it. Would that be part of the problem? Should I replace the entire turbo or just the waste gate? What checks can I do to make sure this is the problem? Also where does the turbo gauge get its reading from? Is there vacuum line or just electrical wire that runs from compressor to the back of the gauge? Thanks.

Wow this site rocks....thanks a lot guys....I will be checking code from check engine light and also all vacuum lines this weekend. Also, does anyone know where I can get better vacuum lines? I think I am going to replace all.
