Ty rear gate lock / latch question

The big black latch spins and feels loose when I try to open the glass or the tailgate on the Ty.

Please see the image. Should the lock cylinder spin in the "holder"? Or should it be pressed in to fit tight? Now it is spinning and that doesn't seem right.

It's busted. You need a new latch/handle assembly. Last one I purchased was about 10 years ago, $25.00 from the dealer. You have to remove the inner panel to gain access to the clip, and the new one needs to be coded to your key. You can do it yourself, if you're skilled at these types of tasks.

Ok so the new black handle and lock come in one piece? The lock seems pressed into the black handle - is that correct?

I bought this Ty last year and haven't driven it yet due to all these little repairs. Lol replacing everything gets old but addictive.
