Ty vs. Mercury Maurauder

Lined up tonight with a Merc. Maurauder. Blew him away at the line I was about 3 or 4 cars ahead and he was pulling on me hard then all of a suden I kept pulling harder and harder and we had to let off for traffic. But those things are quick I was very impressed. No amazing kill but I thought I'd share

Isn't it like 5.0 like the Mustangs or something like that. That would explain the nice exhaust note.

Yeah I think they have the mustang GT motor in them Im not sure what generation they used though, I dont even know if they used the same motor in all of them (mustangs) that is. All I know was it was pulling hard after I had launched but then I started pulling on him, it was quick though and then he turned off

it's a 32 valve. I looked up on the web and it's a true dual exhaust with diffrent sizeing. Sounds much better than a regular mustang. It has a european v8 tone.

They remind me of the 94-96 Impala SS.Cop car with leather and aluminum wheels.

4.6L 32 valve modular motor that I think puts out 315hp from the factory.. same motor that's used in the svt cobras 96-98 I believe. Sharp cars imo

yeah very sharp. he knew what I had and he ripped onto rte.9 right along w/ me and then I blew him away at the next light . It sounds very nice!!!

4.6L 32 valve modular motor that I think puts out 315hp from the factory.. same motor that's used in the svt cobras 96-98 I believe. Sharp cars imo

I like them, but they are still slow. lol

you may be right, but I remember reading on a marauder site that Ford built a special motor just for these cars...and yes, they do sound nice. :woot:

I swear, if they werent so expensive, and I liked Fords a little bit more, I would buy one.

I thought 0-60 times for these were still in the 7s. :dunno: I mean not bad for a heavy car like that but still I can't see one hanging with a Sy or a Ty. Just looked it up according to this ( http://fast-autos.net/mercury/mercurymarauder.html ) around 6.5 still not Sy or Ty territory.

If its as fast as a Mark VIII then its very high 14's or a 15 flat.

Right you are.. with 318lbs of torque but all you need is a change or two to the exhaust

No there the same DOHC 4.6L that was put in the svt cobras.. your thinking of the special VT edition.. where they forged the internals, supercharged it, intercooled it and it ended up in the 5L range. Here's an article http://motortrend.com/features/performance/112_0309_tun/

Ok, think about this. Two of my friends both had 96cobras. All they did was H-pipe, shifter, DragR, CAI, 75shot. Both cars when low low 12's

If you wanted a fast maurader it wouldnt be hard.

Too heavy. I read an article some months back and it was just a tad slower then the 96 impala SS.

I just found out a friend of mine had seen a list of mods the guy had it includes an sc, full exhaust, intake, and all the basic mods

They are sharp but TURD has cut production. I think 05 was the final year for them. I wish GM would import the Holden caprice from over seas. They are running the LS-6 motor in them.http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/modeloverview?modelid=8000
