<Typhoon 1577> rebuild or bust

Well I found some motivation Friday afternoon and brought my truck to the shop so i could figure out what I'm going to do. Its been sitting since the winter of 07' the truck is in nicer shape that i remember that's for sure.

After a quick wash before the water froze i got in the building and started taring it apart.

Figured out why the stock motor i bought from a board member took a shit too... I never made a safety for the oil pickup. when i dropped the pan it was sitting in the bottom hangout.
(Note to self = weld it, or safety wire). it ran great too what a shame it only had about 70k on it.
IMG00140-20110108-2121.jpg

The new motor - Its been sitting around for about a year.
Diamond Racing pistons, Eagle rods, RPM nitrated crank that i had balanced by LAB machine shop.
Your average vortec's 2.02/1.6 ported by Sagona Race Engines
Should be about 9.5:1 compression... cant wait to buy a real turbo!
The cam came with my truck when i bought it... custom grind but its similar to a 412 cam
Everything else is basically stock.

I don't what i want to do with the truck yet (Would love to trade it for a Syclone in the same condition!!!)

IMG00139-20110108-2121.jpg

IMG00131-20110108-2118.jpg

Im still undecided if i want to part it out, fix it and drive it for the summer, or fix and sell right away.
i want to go LSX Turbo but i dont wan to do it to my typhoon... i have a regular s10 i will try to make that happen in if i can get the $$$$ together after i sell the TY.....

but hey only the first weekend we'll see how the week goes.

Take your time and be methodical. I rushed a few things at the end and they all came back to bite me.

Quit screwing around modifying the econobox. I don't approve of it :D , but seriously when I was modifying my daily my project car really suffered. 1 It takes away funds, 2 it takes away time.

I kinda like the M5 wheels. I'd like to see it on the ground with fr and rear on. Might need to be painted a darker silver or black....hmmm.

Re: <Typhoon 1577> rebuild or bust

I am sure I saw the PCV fitting for the covers in Autozone or Pepboys or something.

If going 3 Bar, are you going to change injectors or the fuel pump/AFPR?

Good job man - don't sell/part it. Your daily is worth more but you won't be as passionate about your Ty :)

The truck has an adjustable FPR and a 255hp already. I had a set of 50lbers in there to when I tryed starting the truck at first it would fire. Come to find out the injectors weren't opening. There's a place in new jersey called injector rehab I'm going to give them a shot and let them clean flow etc. my injectors.

The PCV fitting I need is the one that holds the two valves... the factor one.

Re: <Typhoon 1577> rebuild or bust

Depending on the cost to flow, clean etc your 50's, I would consider upgrading to the 60#'s. The prices have come down on injectors in general. The 60's are much more tuning friendly, newer tech, and even wider range of power capability. Just an option.

Re: <Typhoon 1577> rebuild or bust

X2.

I had real problems with the 50s myself and went with 65s.

Re the valves, you mean the rubber grommet in the valve cover that holds the PCV valve in place?
