Re: ultimate chip ?

gotta run the injectors that the chip is made for. would need a good fuel pump already and also a 3 bar map sensor for the ultimate to work right.

post up some pics of the truck!

Re: ultimate chip ?

ok i am not completely sure if it is the 50# injector chip as it does not display the settings with the (F) in it it only displays the T1,T2,T3 and the boost# allowed for each setting.
did they build the round display model for stock injectors ?
it now has a bit of a stumble at takeoff

Re: ultimate chip ?

Yes there were chips for stock injectors,50 lb stock heads, 50 lb vortec heads. The chip should have a sticker labeled which chip it is.

Re: ultimate chip ?

If the knock light is always on, it sounds like you have a bad ultimate board, or the memcal on backwards on the ultimate board.

I can still do the tuning, yep. It will replace your ultimate though, the ultimates have a different chip layout that's incompatible with what I use.

Re: ultimate chip ?

well if the mem cal is the chip that is removeable i just flipped it around and the truck will NOT start turn back the other way and starts right up with the knock light on .
so did i get screwed? bought it from a board member from sweden who said it worked PERFECTLY no issues.
could the knock sensor be bad?

I have an ultimate for stock injectors that I am not using. I also have #50 injectors in my truck if you want to test yours. I am in South Minneapolis. Let me know.

that you want to sell or let me test on mine?
mine is a stock injector ultimate chip .
i love getting broken parts:tdown:

if i run with the chip in and the knock light on will it just run in like a limp mode with limited boost?

Re: ultimate chip ?

It'd be a good idea to hook up with some of the guys down there, you could try it on different trucks and see if it works on any of them.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but the reality is that the Ultimates were hit-n-miss by nature. Any of the chips that were sold "off the shelf" are really a crap shoot at best.

Once you have something dialed in to your particular truck, you'll never want to have it any other way.

You will need:

1) A WB o2:

(Note: There are *lots* of different wide-band setups available, and pretty much any of the popular ones will work. I'd highly recommend, also, that you get a second o2 sensor bung welded in the downpipe just
behind the turbo.)

2) G1 adapter

That's all I need to get going. And the truck, of course. I generally do a once-over of the motor, and a compression check unless the motor is brand new.

If you want to change things yourself down the road, you'll need:

Scan/ALDL cable:

Ostrich:

You don't need to have the last 2 yourself, but it's kinda handy.

Re: ultimate chip ?

is it possible to set it up to have multiple tunes or chips with the moates push button controller?

G3 adaptor plus the controller, yes it is.

Most people on a full custom tune only need 3-4 at most. Security, valet, street, strip.

Sec is easy, valet not too hard once street is done.

x2. Most people around here don't care about valet, so that leaves about 3. If you aren't worried about the security feature, you can get by with 2.

I usually include a "cheap gas tune" for cases where the lousy 91 that we get around here is being run.
Other than that, there's really little reason to have more than a street gas and a race gas tune.
