Vac/Boost leak @ Upper IC to TB

I sealed off the inlet hose and pressurized the intake system w/ 10 PSI with the motor off w/ my air compresser. Anyway, I found a big vac leak at the hose fromt he upper IC to the Throttle body. I tried re-aranging the clamps, changing the hose around, tightening the clamps down to the max, and nothing seemed to work. The intake should hold 10-15 PSI without hearing any leaks, right?

What should I do to fix it? it seems like it is leaking on the under side and on the top, under where you tighten the hose clap down. I don't want to make an RTV mess and can't think of any other way to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem?

well the obvious make sure the boot is on there.

what clamps do you have that may be the problem.

does this look right? I have not seen another SyTy motor in person to recall if this looks right.

The clamps say " Aero Seal BREEZE"

Stock ones are black.Do you have all 3 IC brackets on?

No, just one...two of the brackets are missing.

Anyone know where to get stock replacement clamps?

LOL that's probably your problem.I'd be looking for brackets before clamps ;)

You got some pansyass clamps. Go to a diesel truck stop/dealer (mack or volvo) and get some clamps made for semi's. I did this, and it holds 24 psi without a whimper. Shit, the hold 50-60 psi on big rigs. HTH's

It is solidly mounted with just the one, but I guess they put three brackets under there for a reason...

"T-bolt" clamps are what he's referring to & you can also find these in various diameters at most Napas Autoparts. I too had problems holding more than ~17 psi before I went w/ these better-designed clamps. HTH...

the throttle body shaft usually leaks air on most trucks maybe your hearing the leak from there?

I would suggest you need all those IC brackets in most cases (although if your testing it manually and you dont see it moving around that isnt causing your leak), if that hose in the pic is the culprit take it off and make sure your sealing surfaces are clean and not damaged in any way.

Im willing to bet that the throttle body is leaking right by the return spring. Its the shaft that connects the throttle blades and all syty's leak there. I did the trick i while back with a cigarette and blew smoke into the ic and it came out right at the spring.

well those Deisel clamps did the trick on the IC to TB leak. It is also leaking from the throttle shaft on both sides. How can I fix this or should I even worry about it?

I'm actually curious about these 3 brackets for the IC. I have one stock bracket, are there supposed to be more? Heck the ONE it does have wasnt even attached to the IC until a week or so ago when I changed the hoses out, I got a bolt to attach the IC to the bracket.

Re: Vac/Boost leak @ Upper IC to TB

Well It seems that the TB leak is worse. I can feel the air comming out of it, and the system won't hold pressure for more than a couple seconds, even at a couple PSI.

Is there any way to fix the leak? I really don't want to spend the $ on a new TB.

Thanks
