WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

I'm hoping some of you guys are interested, but I'm the VP of the Bremerton Sports Car Club (www.bscc.net), and usually once a month we have an autocross. We'll be having a regular event on Monday (Memorial Day), and possibly a practice event on Sunday. It's at Bremerton Motorsports Park. If we have the practice event, it'll be $20 per entry. The Monday event is $25 for members, and $30 for non-members. There is also a $5 discount for pre-registering. If you want to pre-register, just head to the website and click on schedule. Find Monday's event and click on it and you'll see a link to our pre-register site. I'm not sure if I'll be out there with my Sy, but I'll try. My main race car is my Fiero. But either way, I'd sure like to see some of you guys come out there and dance with some cones! If you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

P.S. If you guys want, I can post reminders of all our events here. Let me know.

You allow Typhoons to autocross? The SCCA won't allow SUVs.

We allow pickups and SUV's to race as long as they're setup for sport. Stock Syclones and Typhoons are allowed.

I'm in, and it would be great if you posted reminders here. My truck should be back on the road in a few weeks and after that I'll be looking to do some autocrossing.

I am 95% sure syclone and typhoon is even specifically mentioned in the autocross rule books and has its own class.

Not a autocross expert but local guy has done some checking for me, as they have the general no SUV rule here also. Hard for them to say no though, when your truck is mentioned in the book itself.

Check the rule book.. Then throw it in their face.. They are indeed in there.. I have seen it myself..

Wow! I guess it is in there. I know the SCCA in Alaska allows a Syclone to run, but I was told "no SUVs". Oh well, I won't be racing up there anyway. Maybe there will be an event in WA when I go to pick my Ty up.

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

It all depends on what club your racing with, and how much of a dick they want to be. We (BSCC) have our own classing system seperate from SCCA classing. Sy's and Ty's fall in our Large Sedan class, which is pretty much any 4+ seaters 3000cc or bigger. But yeah, if it's in the SCCA rule book, any region SCCA should allow you to run. If they say you can't, they're new!

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

This Sunday, June 12th is event #3. Looks like I'll be co-chairing this event. If anyone wants to come, have at it! If you want to pre-register, head to www.bscc.net and go to the schedule page and click on the event. You'll see a link to the pre-register site. You'll save $5 by doing so. If you want to come, look at the info on the event to figure out what time your class runs so you know when to get there!

BTW, If you want to just come out and watch, there's no entry fee, so you can watch for free!

I'll be wrenching this weekend and next, but within three weeks (two if things go well, but you know how that is) I'll be back on the road. Can't wait to get out there.

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

Once again. A big weekend of racing in one week. July 3rd is are 5th event of the year. Did you get your truck fixed yet? And on the 4th, we have open lapping on the Bremerton Motorsports Park road course. I was gonna do this with my Sy, but I'm not gonna be able to get the suspension mods that I wanted to do done in time, so I'm just gonna race my car instead. Anyway, anyone's welcome to participate (with fee of course) or just come out and watch (free). More info available at www.bscc.net!

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

Still haven't gotten my truck fixed. The engine is ready, but I need to install it. Depending on my plans for the 4th that'll happen next weekend or the weekend after. Not sure if I'll have my bed back by then though and almost certain I won't have my cladding by then :(

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

I guess I'm probably alittle late, but we got some racing going on this weekend. Unfortunately I wont be racing my Sy. Road racing Friday, autocrossing Saturday and Monday. See www.bscc.net for details! If anyone wants to come out to watch or race, feel free!

EDIT: Correction, not Saturday, but Sunday instead!

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

God damn, I can't believe it's been this long and my truck still isn't ready. It's running good now but still handling like crap. I'm still waiting on spring spacers from Mike at RPM, the coilover kit I got from him doesn't hold the truck up nearly far enough, it sits so low in it's travel I only have about an inch of travel so it's handling horribly, I hit a bump and it just bounces off line. He said I should have the spacers next week so keep posting these notices and maybe sometime in the next year or two I'll have it handling decent and come out to race.

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

Well, it's the start of the racing season again. And Sunday (Feb. 19th) is our first event (see www.bscc.net for complete schedule). It's just a practice event if anyone's interested. Since my transmission is crapped out on my primary autocrosser, I'm most likely gonna be out there in the Sy. Here's the info copied and pasted from an email of mine. I'm gonna be chairing this event, so if you have any questions just let me know.

Since there's lack of info on on the www.bscc.net website:

Date: Sunday, February 19th

Price: $25 for BSCC members, $30 for non-members, $5 discount for pre-registering

Pre-reg is now open at http://www.autocrossscorekeeper.com/register/bscc/

Usual registration time:

Morning run group 7:30-8:30

Afternoon run group 11:30-12:30

There's no restriction on run groups as this is a practice event. Race morning, or afternoon, or most likely even both. It's up to you.

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

I was allowed to run my Ty. But who knows, maybe I was just given a special privilege because my Dads a 2 time national champion. It really does depend on if they want to be a dick or not. Some kid took his moms Volvo station wagon out and rolled that thing, wasn't an SUV. I know there's not much of a chance in heck I'm gonna roll the Ty unless I slide it into something. I raced against all the Camaros/Mustangs/Firebirds and took home second place.

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

Only way I could see you rolling it is if you slid onto the grass sideways. We allow Sy/Ty's and many other sport tuned trucks. SCCA should allow them too since there's a classing for them in the official rule book.

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

Yep, and I don't think grass would even cause a roll, more like sliding sideways into a curb. Even unlikely at that. Pretty sweet when a little truck/suv can beat out the newer muscle cars.

Re: WA guys - autocrossing anyone?

I brought out my Ty to a BEAC practice several years ago and it actually did pretty well. I don't have the rear sway bar installed so there was a fair bit of body roll. I kept it in 2nd gear pretty much the whole time so I wouldn't have to worry about lag/downshifting coming out of the corners.
