Is it possible to run our in engines in the truck without a transmission in place, as long as the starter is connected?

Re: Weird Question

Why not, just watch for dangling wires in the back of the motor near the flywheel.

Re: Weird Question

thats what i was thinking, the only sensors that wouldn't be connect are the tranny and transfer case.

Re: Weird Question

Hmmmm. You'll need the flexplate of course. What I'm wondering is if the flex plate is enough of a flywheel by itself. Doesn't the TC work a lot like a flywheel in that sense? Just curious... Never tried starting with just a flexplate

Re: Weird Question

It should be ok but I think that it will vibrate like a mofo since you won't have the transmission mount in the back to lock it down in three places. Probably gonna sound kinda funny too. Your motor mounts are sure to get a good work out that's for sure...

Re: Weird Question

I didn't think about it revving quickly. That's' correct. I had a motor with an alum flywheel and it would rev very quickly.

This is interesting, maybe a vid would be in order??
