Some say HEI....are they different than ours that require another separate coil? If so please link me to a good deal on Ebay for the EXACT one I should purchase. I have a custom comp cam ... will the gears on these be fine? ---

* EDIT: What about the one in post #5? *

Don't go E-cheapo with a dist. for these trucks. Go with a good brand or one thats designed to be a direct replacement.

I will look at the pro comp web site (I didnt even think of that). Thanks guys for your opinions. I heard the pro comp were an EXACT replica of the MSD down to the o - rings :) ---

I don't think any of those will work.
For one, the size of the cap. That cap is huge compared to the stock cap. With a stock intake I don't think you'll be able to fit it in.
Secondly, being a vacuum advance there is no way for the ECM to control the advance.

Re: What cheap ebay distributor should I get? ---

None of those are designed to work with EFI.

Its gonna require an ignition module and allow electronic advance if its going to work with our setup.
You are better off buying an AZ distributor and keep your brass gear and ign module.
that or buck up $300+ for the MSD.

Contact pro-Comp and see what their equivalent for MSD-8367 is.

I just found their website, it only opens in ADOBE. Its procompelectronics.com

We need the 8001-6 ($110) or the 8021-6 ($155) I am pretty sure, if anyone doublechecks, let me know. THANKS everyone ---

Re: What cheap ebay distributor should I get? ---

My vote is to rebuild your stock one. I rebuilt mine with GM parts, new pickup coil, ignition module and brass gear. The cost was right around $100.

Re: What cheap ebay distributor should I get? ---

Yeah, a rebuilt stock one will perform just as good as a new msd one right? Its nice having options :) ---

It looks like the 1001-6 might be the direct replacement. I would ask them before placing an order.

Re: What cheap ebay distributor should I get? ---

I was thinking of getting a pro-comp. Pro-comp no long makes their distributer, thanks to a legal battle won by MSD, due to copyright infringement. (Same design as MSD) Pro-Comp sucks from what I have re-searched. Its a cheap knock-off made in china, and isn't as good as MSD. I would buy an MSD, or get an OEM, or rebuild the stock unit. Why risk your motor just to save a few bucks. Plus buying USA parts helps the economy. :p

Contact some of the guys selling pro-comp on ebay.

They are probably selling off shelf stock.
