What is a "datamaster"

While read many threads I came upon the term "datamaster". What is this? Is this a program that I should go ahead an purchase? SORRY for this NEWBIE question.

It also requires a cable to mate the ALDL port to the serial port on the back of a laptop. Cables can be found here:

There have been several cheap imitations for the cable, buyer-be-ware. I like the originals, not copies.

Since I'm in the market for a TYPHOON should I request a datamaster info on the truck? What will the readout tell me about the truck?

Asking for a Datamaster readout would be a good idea. It will let youknow if the owner is in tune with how well his/her truck is actually running. It also lets you know if they frequent this forum. Chances are, if they have Datamaster, they have been to this forum.

The data from datamaster will tell you the readings from the sensors in the engine and computatinos from the ECU.
