syty's...rods and pistons suck. go 4 bolt mains, treat the crank and its strong enough for 400 no problem. others will chime in

my weakness was main bearings ugghh that new fmic and phills new chip she was running awesome and them bang,oh well new build in progress but i agree rods

I put about 50,000 miles on my '99 S10 4.3 making near 350hp at the crank w. a vortech blower and a 3 core ati fmic. Took off the blower at 100,000 total miles and now gathering the parts to put a syty turbo on it. There are guys making more power on the stock bottom end than I am but they probably havent put as many miles on their trucks as I have.

IMO, the only thing that cant be upgraded is the oiling system.. U can upgrade the rods/pistons with aftermarket goodies that will solve most of the issues. The stock block/crank can tolerate quite a bit of abuse. The major failures I have seen are almost always oiling related. Install good parts, change the oil often and DONT let it knock and you will be fine for a long time.
