What is this on my Sy?

It is mounted to the drivers side very front corner, there is a SECOND oil pump attached to this device with lines running to it. When I turn on my truck to accessory (right before I start it) it comes on and makes a noise that sounds like a fuel pump but louder and stays on... then it still stays on after it is running.

This truck has alot of stuff done to it, but since I am new to the sy/ty's I was curious if anybody knew what it was. The mods I know of are in my SIG...

If it stays on after the engine is turned off it could be a turbo timer.
Plrimes oil to the turbo and then circulates it after shut ddown to cool it off.

If it is plumbed into the lines from the IC or CCHE then its your IC coolant pump. But I dont think shoudl run once you turn the key OFF

It doesn't run once you turn the key off, the key has to be turned to the "on" position.

I'll trace the lines when I get off of work, thanks guys I appreciate it, if anyone else has an ideas, please keep them coming!!! :D

Turbo timer isn't an additional pump, it is a timer that runs the motor after you shut it off to help lubricate & cool down the turbocharger's bearings.

My money is on a Shurflo IC pump, as the ATR kit mounts it on the driver's side fenderwell. I bet the lines are 3/4" heater hose going to the intercooler and lower heat exchanger, possibly an auxiliary one.

Oops, didn't see the 2nd oil filter note.

Then it's probably a pre-luber, probably taps right into the lines at the regular oil filter setup there.

Dunno why it would run full time...that part doesn't make sense. It should just run pre-startup, to lubricate engine before startup (try to avoid the whole 90% of engine wear occurs at startup theory).

I THINK it runs all the time, let me double check after work and I will let you know. How long should I let that run before startup do you think?

what it could be!

There is a system out there for turbo lubrication and engine prestart lubrication. Ive seen it installed on a Dodge turbo diesel. The sytem has a pump that prelubes the engine prior ot engine start, also with the system there is a accumulator that will feed the turbo after the engine is shut down. Its possible some one put this type sys on a syclone.

Thats just it. I dont even work in IT. We got some new equipment and we were trying to break as many laws as we could using it.



Back to the question.

If your sy has the preluber with the acumulator its a pretty expensive add on. Last I remember they were close to a grand. Im getting a new chevy with the duramax in November and thinking about putting one on it now. (wife thinks its for hauling home depot supplys and a work truck :lol: HUH nope its a buick and syclone hauler!) I think these system are only worth it if its your daily driver, lots of starts and stops.

Ok, I found out my camera was packed up when I moved, but I did find a picture of where it is on another guys truck. It was from a link that smeagol posted when I was searching through for air intakes about his air to air intercooler....

What is that smeagol on your upper drivers side corner of the truck? It has an oil filter on it....

Just a guess but it may be the abs coming on. That is the oil filter relocation kit that you have pointed out. I could be wrong on the abs being as that I don't have it but thats my guess. Good luck with what you find.
