Okay, so Spring is here and it is time to get even more serious about detailing. So as the question asks, what detailing products are you all using?
I am using the following...so far.

Maguires 3 step paint cleaner, polish, wax. IMO, the best Ive found.

Maguires gold class car wash for after waxing, dish soap for stripping wax.

Maguires 2 step leather cleaner/conditioner. works great, although I have tried Meltonian's leather shoe conditioner and was surprised.

Maguires Quick detail.

Stoners Invisible glass cleaner, this stuff is fantastic, wont ruin tint either.

Mothers aluminum and magnesium polish.

4U concentrated degreaser.

Formula 303 protectant, absolutly the BEST plastic, rubber, vinyl, and tire conditioner Ive ever used, and I am a Meguires man.

Rain X, I dont know of too many people who use this, after applying this, Id be better off taking my windsheild wipers off the truck, this stuff really works.

These are just what Ive used before, I am always up for expirementation with other products! :)

I always make sure there is Carnubo in the ingrediants for my wax. As long as that is in there I get a great shine. I found that this is a very popular ingrediant to look for. Told to me by the guys that enter their custom cars into car shows.
LOVE my california car duster. If I use it every day just for 5 minutes a day I only have to wash my truck every 2 or 3 weeks! But you have to use it right in order for it to work. You have to make sure the body/metal of the truck is very warm or a bit hot, this way the duster wont smear across the paint and will remove the dust.
Sounds like everythiny else you are doing is perfect. I may try some of the stuff you are using.

For the mirror housings,try some Meguiers Machine Glaze.It's a great plastic polish that will make them look NEW :eek:

About the mirror housing on the typhoons, are they the same plastic/texture as the Syclones unpainted cladding? I use the 303 on the housings and it works pretty good, but Id like something that goes on without smearing, does that Maguires stuff do that?

Tried the water blade? That thing cut drying time by a 1/3 easy, an it wont scratch, same goes for the firemans friend.

The mirrors are not the same as the cladding.With the Meguiers,you have to rub HARD on the plastic until it starts squeaking,but when you get done it will be worth it.My mirror housings look like puddles of water (deep and shiney),and you could literally read a newspaper in them.

Never heard of the water blade.I use "The Absorber" and it only takes 5 minutes to dry my truck.

The California water blade is a large "squeegy"(sp?), its made of surgical grade silicone. Really helps on the hood, roof, and sides, wherever there is a large flat surface.

Tried two more products today, 3M plastic polish and Meguires Mirror Glaze "Medallion" Premium leather care.

I would have used the Meguires machine glaze but could not find any 'round here, the 3M stuff was AWESOME though, really shined up the mirror housings/tail lights.

The Leather care stuff is now my favorite, unfortunatly it was the last and only bottle Ive ever seen in Farmington. It is a lot creamier than any other conditioner Ive seen, was really impressed, pick some up if you can find it.

On the hunt for Zaino stuff now, dont think I'll be able to get any here in town though.

Prolly not since Zaino is pretty much mail order only.
Unless someone local to you bought a distributor, which none of them are advertised so good luck finding one.

I used to use either McGuires Gold products or Zymol. Then I started using the Zaino products. There is no comparison for me...Zaino wins hands down. There are a couple of pictures of my Sy posted in the Lounge area under Sy 1616 is a winner. Don't believe me? Just look at that 13 year old factory paint!! It's amazing stuff!

I've been using Zymol on all the cars I've ever owned...pretty good stuff. But I've never tried Zaino, guess I'll be giving it a shot :wink:

This thread been dead :p .

I used "Simple Green" for the first time today. Had to flush the radiator and decided to give the Ty a good underhood detailing. Damn was I impressed, the stuff worked much better than I expected.

Ill try to get pics up this weekend.

I would try using a "polish" or paint "cleaner" from meguires, mothers, or 3M. Try these first, if no workie, try a light rubbing compound (3M). Be sure to protect that resurfaced paint with a carnuba wax.

I really like the meguires three stage cleaner-polish-wax, it works really well. Havent tried the Zaino stuff yet, it seems to be a miracle worker, its pretty expensive though.

1. what are you using on your cladding, "Black Chrome"?

2. are you guys using a buffer for most this stuff or your wax on wax off hand technique? :D

3. Anyone tried using a buffer on the cladding not just the metal/body?
