"The GM 3800 turbo V6 was used in the Grand National/GNX and Turbo Trans-Am. The motor used by the Syclone/Typhoon was a variant of the 4.3 liter "small-block" V6 that was basically the company's V6 with 2 cylinders lopped off"

was he trying to say the 350 v8 with two cylinders lopped off? or could people really be this ignorant?

What's that saying, something like "It's better to keep your mouth shut and let peope assume your an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove it."

Re: what some people think?

I used to use that site alot when I had my Type R, depending on who you listen to on there, you can get some good info but mostly its "will these alteezas fit on my car if I have carbon fiber racing stripes?" or "new 1/4 mile time of 15.7 after installing 75 shot". :rotf:

The kills section is pure fiction at its best.

He's close to correct, that's allot better than some people. I just love it when rednecks come up and say " Hey, is that there one them s-10 with the vette motor in it?" or " Hey Jeb, look it's got one them buick motors in it "

Thanks god for the internet and the ability to transfer information faster. Now if we could only make it cheap enough for the rednecks to get on it we all might be smarter. Or dumber, depends on how you look at it.

For years, people (even "professional magazine editors") have referred to the 4.3L as "a 5.7L with two cylinders cut off". And while the 4.3L does use a great deal of 5.7L parts, they are by no means identical twins. The 4.3L has entirely different rods, crankshaft, bearings, etc....while sharing pistons, bore size, intake angle, deck height, external components, etc.....with the 5.7L.

However, I wouldn't expect an uneducated poster or a magazine editor with a hard-on for European cars to know the difference between a 4.3L and a 5.7L. So, the fact that they even got the displacement correct satisfies me.

Re: what some people think?

They didn't get the cylinder count right. They said the Syclone 4.3 was the Buick 3.8 with two cylinders cut off! So it would be a V4 with a displacement of 2.5 L, but some how the displacement increased to 4.3???

Yea people are just ignorant before i started to build my new motor i bought another set of intakes for the vortec heads and they need to be sand blasted becasue they had been painted white, so i took them to the machine shop and the machinist tryed to tell me that the intakes came off a boat motor and still did not belive me when i drove the truck up there and showed him it came on the truck from the factory like that and kept asking me why i would buy these intake mainfolds and put them on that motor. Ignorance is so aggervating sometimes needless to say i did not go back to them.

I have a friend who's brother in-law would always tell me that the S-10 SS, the Sy, and the Ty's all had the LT1'a in them. I got on him so much, told him he didnt know shit. To this day he still thinks they have a LT1 in them. I'm just waiting to see him again in the Sy and be like, point out #7 and 8 cylinders please :D

To top it off, he still thought a regular S-10 would give a stock syty a run for its money. I said yeah, maybe with a blown engine.

Re: what some people think?

Well that's a hell of a lot closer than the people who think it's an LT1 or Buick 3.8. Next, someone needs to convince the G-body Monte Carlo SS owners they don't come with 350's. If I had a dollar every time someone said the SS Montes came with TPI 5.7's, I'd be a rich man.

Reminds me of a sign I used have on my desk:

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realise that what I said is not what I meant.

Hahaha....

The other night, I went to a car show, a "pre-90's" car show. Well I have had trouble getting in, but this time I was able to sneak in, hell I was board. I got a space, well John with the Garnet Typhoon came by to chat. We took a spin around the block in his phoon and I told him he could park next to the Syclone. Well I got out to move a cone, to let him in and I got screamed at. Well, I put the cone back, and proceeded to discuss with the guy what is was he said he didn't care. Whatever, I am never going back there.

Technically its an 84 body style, and rarer, faster than most cars in the show. This takes the cake, they will let a 1985 Dodge Rusted Out Ramcharger before they let a phoon or clone in!!!! I don't understand?
