What torque converter?

Okay, I know the 9/11 is recommended but what does one cost? I have heard of some billet TC's costing 900 bones (!). I don't really have that kind of cash to lay down right now, but I want to get something with around 2500-2700 rpm stall.

Motor is fairly mild... 4 bolt mains, SRP's, H-beams, lightly ported L35's and a mild cam. Going to run the stock turbo for a little while, have a bb 60-1 that will be going on later. It may get more/better go fast parts in the future.

I'll just keep the stock TC if you guys think it's not worth getting a lockup converter in the $300-$500 range.

i have a yank 2800 that was new in the box of e-bay in my truck and love it. i won it for 300 nib

i think it's 500-600 new from them.

What about this one ? I can't tell if it's a lockup and who knows if the warranty covers use in a Typhoon.

I just don't have the money to spend on a 9/11. Is there anything worth buying in the <$400 range? It's tough to find the right stall on e-gay.

To be honest man its not a part you want to go cheap on. I would recommend you save up a little more and get a 9/11 or PI converter. They take a severe beating in any condition and if you have to buy 2 cheap ones you might as well bought the more expensive to begin with.

a dual ball bearing turbo shouldn't need as much stall as a non bb turbo, i'd say give it a shot w/ the stock one

Not true, I have seen Dyno test that show a 50-150 RPM difference between BB and Non-BB Turbos.

BB turbos were made for a longer life.

Cheap ones also tend to also have poor part throttle driveability. I know of a few people to buy the cheap TC converter only to buy a $700 torque converter not too far down the road.
