Which dash speaker of today fit?

Those speakers that i found in other threads are no longer available.
I looked up Crutchfield and they show 4 available speakers for the Ty:

4"x6"
Polk Audio DXi460 (2-way)
Kenwood KFC-4675C (2-way)
Pioneer TS-A4675R (3-way)


4"x4"
Kicker 40CS44 (2-way, with adapter bracket)

Are they all a direct fit or do i have to modify the heater lines in the dash?

Any of them should fit without any modifications. But I would avoid the 3 way because the tweeter might interfere with the grill and being such a small speaker you really don't gain that much sound wise. You can only get so much out of a 4 inch dash mounted speaker anyway so don't pay for all the hype. The 4x4 is probably the most accurate and efficient, round speakers alway are but have a little less bass response due to the smaller surface areaJust bolt them to the grill and pop them in. I bought used 2 way Pioneer speakers and they are decent and much better than the factory speakers. Without looking at price or Specs I'd probably go with the Kenwoods or the Kickers.

Hertz DCX460.3 is another good alternative. They work great off head unit power (93 db efficient)

I have the polks....In work great...just barely fit underneath the grill in the dash....great sounding.

I would do the Polk. I used to sell and install them. They never disappointed. Crutchfield is selling them for $40 now.

I have Kicker 4x6's in my Sy, they fit without modification, and were an improvement over stock. I'm still rockin' an OEM radio so there's only so much it can do.

At that price you can't really go wrong with the Polks.

I want to say I am running 4" Polk Audio plates in the dash and they sound great. Running them off the head unit with no problems.

I have an older version (20 year old) of the Polk 4x6 plate 461p separates (4" woof/1" tweet) with a 100uf capacitor to cut out the low bass. I have a small 6x9 band pass sub box in the back that gives the lows. Had to change out a defunct front amp last year, but the dash speakers still crank.:2cents:

+1 for Polk.
I have Polk in front and rear of my Syclone for about 6 years now.
Polk DB461P 4x6 in my dash
Polk MMC410 4x10 in the rear (sound decent for 4x10)

I have had a lot of S series trucks and had excellent response out of the 4x6 plate style speakers. 4" midrange with a 1" tweeter up there in the dash. Too bad the Boston Acoustics are no longer available. I loved those.

I just installed a set of Bostons from halfprice audio. I had to modify the opening on the drivers side. The magnet was a bit larger than the stock unit.
