who makes new glass?

My right rear side window leaks a few drops when i wash it, so I took it by a glass shop just to have a new rubber piece put around it and resealed, and boy was i in for a surprise:

"$250, or more, just to replace gasket."

"And if we break it, we are not responsible for it....oh, and we called all of our suppliers, even the ones we dont usually buy from, and they don't make replacments"

I guess the 2 door blazer/jimmy's came with a lesser tinted rear window???

I'm going to call another glass company, b/c surely somebody has to make factory replacments.

dealers have it , but its big bucks nice thing is the trim here in michigan is not all sun destroyed (the trucks just rot to hell)

$250 sounds a bit high. I'm having my glass taken out next week before I take it in for paint. They are charging me $40 to remove both 1/4 glass and the windshield. And another $40 to come out and reinstall when it's done, plus the price of the window moldings and a new windshield (it's cracked). I doubt the moldings are that expensive, but I could be wrong.

See how much new glass is it was cheaper for me to guy new glass that pay the remove and reinstall fee, :roll: it was 90.00 per side for new glass or 40 each way for labor new glass included the molding, the new moldings are wider than the factory pieces so they look different and you can notice

My 1/4 glass is still in good shape. Was going to go OEM on the mldgs. I would rather not have aftermarket glass if at all possible. The $40 he's charging is to remove all 3 windows and $40 to reinstall all 3 windows.
