widest tire on stock rim

what is the widest tire you can put on stock rim without having any trouble if you stay with the 50 profile
is 255-50-16 the widest they make on 50-16? is 50 stock can't remember
wanting to put a wider tire on back than that is on front nothing crazy though
i heard of places doing it to other wheels could some place make the stock rims wider and possibly change offset??

245-50-16 is stock.

255-50-16 will work fine. I wouldn't go any wider than that on stock rims.

I have BFG 265-50-16's on my Sy, with no problems. They are wider than 245/255's, but they are also taller. A lil more than stock motor helps to get them moving.
