i just bought a wrecked typhoon...the front right took a pretty hard hit...the front right wheel and tire is "horizontal" if you will...the body doesnt look that bad, but being 'awd' do you think that the cv shaft stuff will get expensive or can i just disable the front wheel drive? if thats not an option, does anybody know where i can buy the parts that i may need to fix this? i dont know anything about the awd on these machines...im to pick up the truck on friday and havent really closely assessed the damages...but i think its going str8 to the body shop....can get a list later...thanks for reading...

Frame, suspension parts, axles, etc are 4x4 S truck. Just make sure the body shop pays extra attention to the frame on it as any S truck wont tolerate even a moderate hit without tweaking the frame.

wrecked typhoon

thanks for the info...i managed to get a clear title(no salvage) on this thing...it was a woman driven constable car(anna munoz)and she got nailed when pulling out on a road when on a call...anyway, got a STEAL of a deal...this is what it looks like http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/sdela/lst?.dir=/typhoon&.view=t
im gonna start looking for parts....might sell if price is right but for now its gonna be stored....kinda dusty inside....it took me 8 months to aquire it....
if anyone has the ground effects that i need, im interested....thanks again!!!

What is up with that Syclone in the gallery?

I wonder if the police dept modified the Typhoon or if they bought it in that condition?

Those trucks have lived very different lives from the rest on the market.

Good find! :D

you definately got some work ahead of you...

thats a hard hit in a bad area... when the roof folds like that, outlook isnt very good....

it can be fixed... just need alot of time and devotion...you'll be spending alot of time squaring the frame back up and doing body work to work out the folds on the roof. looks like alot of things got tweaked under the hood too....

replumbed IC lines, shitty KB intake... some sort of vac lines running off on driver side upper.... know if it has a chip in it?

can you post the VIN so we can add it to the Archives....

btw, nice syclone.... that truck alone just boosted the retail value of both my trucks....

whats the VIN of that "thing" too?

Ok, gotta ask since I couldnt see it in the pics, where in the world are you located? Looks like somewhere overseas.. (constable ?? we dont use that here).

As far as the Sy is concerned, where is the running boards and the cattle guard.. EEEEEK !  Oh well I guess as long as the owner is happy thats all thats important.. Not what I would do but like I said, different strokes..

The Ty looks like a STEAL for $800 hopefully not much frame damage if any and some simple parts swapping and some tweaks here and there (roof included) and you will be ready to roll....

Good Luck, nice to see it finally got in the hands of an enthusiast......

Hey for $800 thats a sweet deal...I woulda bought it!

Can't he just yank the frame completely and just start with a new one? Instead of straightening and messin with it??

Good luck with it, one day you'll be able to raise your hands to the sky and yell "IT'S ALIVVVVVVVVE!!!!"

I'll give you twice what you paid for it j/k (well, I am serious...I would have bought it in a second for $800.)

The Cladding (ground effects) are going to be expensive, used it will cost around $1000, as the prices of those pieces new are up over $3000. (front bumper $1000, support $400) The AWD drive pieces aren't that expensive, even new. If it was my truck, I would serious think about picking up another worn out 4wd S-10 blazer/s15 Jimmy and swapping frames use it as donor for suspension pieces. A lot of that depends on you mechanical ability though, it would be very pricy to pay a shop to do that.

BTW how many miles are on it?

Hey tx_t-type, looks like you scored big time with that Ty :D You could part it out for a LOT more than what you paid for it. The leather seats still look very nice, which is indicative of the condition of the rest of the truck. Yes, I think you have a lot of work ahead of you if you decide to rebuilt it. Obviously, it helps to do your own work to save money; not sure if you're a body/frame expert or what not. I'm in the same boat as you; just bought a '93 Eagle Talon TSi AWD turbo 5-speed for $850 that has front right damage, but it's nowhere near as bad as that Ty. Haven't totally decided yet whether to part it or rebuild it. Anyway, keep us posted on the Ty. BTW, nice bike, I have an identical '02 Gixxer

anyone notice the trailer hitch on the sy? Nice purchase for the price you could easily make your money back parting it out but I would fix it, it would be a big learning experience. Good luck.

Look around and see if you can find a blown engine/no engine blazer. 2nd gen blazer(like the extreme).
If not, try to find a no rust 93 Jimmy/Blazer for cheap and start transplanting parts.
Good interior, good guts.
I'm a glutton for punishment
