Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash

I just saw a TV ad for it. It seems really interesting, I would like to know how that stuff works out. Is it really as good as they say it is? It sure would make cleaning the car a lot easier. ::eek:k::

Isopropyl alcohol will evaporate pretty wuick and take oils with it.

Gotta wonder if they are adding some type of evaporative in this stuff.

I can't wait to see someone use it on black though.
That'll be the test.

from what I understand it has a PUR filter that traps all the minerals in hard water and whatnot...giving similar effects of a water softener. Personally, I hate drying my car, it seems like it's just enough work to make me not want to wax it :x

I got the kit for Christmas, but am going to wait until spring to test it as well. Too cold here to hook up the hose, 3 was the high today. If anyone down south has it or tried it, please post so we know what to expect.

tried it

tried it

used it a couple times now. black/black. florida sun. and i'm happy.
follow the instructions and you should see like results. went as far as trying it only on half the truck, and the diff is amazing. only downside i see is the starter kit is only good for 3 washes. refills should be for about 10. paid $19.48 at walmart. autozone wanted $$24.95 (starter kit) refills not in stock as of yet but should be about $5.95 ea for wash and replacement filter. I tried it on a 50 degree day, washed the ty and threw it in the garage (heat-a/c) and a few hours later- dry with about 3-4 spots on the entire truck. tried it again 70 degrees and sunny -left it outside and 20 min later dry- maybe 4-5 small spots. today 81 degrees and mostly dry in about 12-15 mins, couple small spots. I'll take a couple small spots anyday over drying by hand. Paint is less than a month old so I also don't mind not having to dry by hand and increase the chances for scratches. The true test will be a 95+ day in the sun when the water all but evaporates as soon as it hits the vehicle surface. If it works as well then, I might even begin to like washing the truck (not)
I also tried it on my H-D, usually a 2-3 hour job (black and fully polished/chrome motor) with good results, however I did use the compressor to assist in drying.

I picked the kit up at Walmart on Sunday and used it yesterday. It works pretty well and does what it's supposed to. I still had a few water spots here and there, but compared to how it woulda turned out if I had just washed it and let dry without using the Autodry, I'd say there's 80% less spots.

It gets the ::eek:k:: from me.

These trucks are cursed
when they put 'evaporatives' or some kind of additive in the soap, doesnt that usually eat off your coat of wax?

Re: Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash

I actually did a search first ;)

My girlfriend and i were in "Big Lots" and they had kits good for 10 washes for like 14 bucks. i made the comment that "i heard these work really well" so a couple days later she came home with one for me (should have said that pointing at a new corvette maybe she would have brought me one). Anyway, thing worked awesome! Looks like i JUST waxed the truck, MAJOR improvement over my old car washing method. I will spend hours wrenching without blinking, but i hate spending 20 minutes detailing, so i was pleased to find a nice shortcut.

Anyway, was really really impressed with this and for the money it cost there should definitely be one of these in every sy owners garage by now, any owner of a black vehicle for sure!

Re: Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash

Just my opinion and ive used it for over a year. This stuff sucks. I have a white truck and the black ty. when im done (even with a water softener) theres spots everywhere and horrid rainbow streaks on the windows. The only way i found that this stuff works is if you use a damn chamios afterwards, and then its not even holding up to the claim of "auto dry". I allways use the new filters and the soap that comes with it. The up side, however, is drying is much easier do to the polymer soap.

Re: Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash

I use it and it works for me, with 3 cars I have to wash its nice to save some time... not to mention I dont have to scratch up the paint more when Im drying it.

I use it on my 90 crx with crap for paint, syclone and new Mazda 3.. they all come out as clean as they can, with usually little to no spots or anything.

Alot depends on your water pressure and water condition.

I do the following:
Spray down the car with the plain water setting, using the high pressure stream on bug guts
soap and wash top to bottom starting on the side thats not in the sun
spray off soap before it dries, but may not be necissary if its not too sunny or your fast enough
spray off entire car with the same spray setting from wetting the car down
then top to bottom, sunny side first, spray with the autodry misty setting, make sure you saturate the surface so that the water appears like smooth even glass.
then wash the wheels

Walk away and start looking at the list of stuff to do to the sy.

Re: Mr. Clean AutoDry Carwash

My problem with the stuff could be the heat. The stuff doesnt really have time to auto dry. it more like bakes on. I wash my trucks normally just as the suns going down and its not that hot but i still can only wash like a 4x4 area at a time otherwise the soap just bakes on heh. It doesn , however, leave it nice and shiney even if i do have to chamois it.
