Yeah, he had an even fire cam in an odd fire engine and it STILL made around 1,200hp at the pavement. I can't wait to see what this thing is fully capable of. That low 10sec pass was peddling it most of the way too.

Yeah, he had an even fire cam in an odd fire engine and it STILL made around 1,200hp at the pavement. I can't wait to see what this thing is fully capable of. That low 10sec pass was peddling it most of the way too.

I think he'll run in the 9's this time seeing that he did run a 10 a last time with some serious high boost tuning issues and running race cars at over a mile high in altitude takes a little more effort when compared to sea level, but it sounds like John has got that taken care of in the video.
I'd have to agree there......an odd fire engine wouldn't start with and even fire cam in place no matter what. I thought I heard he had some bad valve springs?Nova67ss said:

It was tuned for altitude when it ran in KC. They were trying to get it dialed in for sea level, but just didn't have enough time. Either way, it definitely sounds like it's ready to run from the vid. Truck Fest is officially on my calendar :tup:

Well,,just to set everything straight,the story has got twisted around a bit. Before with the old cam it made 1124 hp to the crank,,not to the ground. And what parts are there to break? All its goin to do is bend a valve,,break a valve,,crack a piston. And when it was pulled apart,,yes,,the valves were taggin every piston on the passenger side,not enough to bend them,just enough to leave a little evidence.

I for once think´s bent or breaked valves and cracked pistons is realy bad news, and despite only tutching pistons U get valves bent NO COMPRESSION and even kam on odd engine dont deliver igition att right point to fire the cylinder mixture. so HOW could he run a 10,3 on that????
Just curiose, willing to learn more.

Well,,half the motor was running great. Until all the valve springs turned to silly putty. So, needless to say,,it ought to be a bit quicker this time around. I'd say 10.03 on 3 cylinders and a single turbo is pretty decent,,,wonder what it will run on 6 with twins!

Ok you all know how much I like posting here but.....................Here are the pics of the valves that were hitting the pistons and also a piston.
If some of you would spend more time wrenching and less posting MAYBE you would be able to understand the whole odd/evenfire deal and if flanders would have taken a good look at my truck at the nats he would have seen that there is no distributor and Motec will make the plugs fire at any deg. that you tell it to.
So to clear all this up......1123 hp at the crank 10.3 146 mph and yes I have a time slip and there is plenty of video on this site showing it!
