    why is Datamaster wrong??

All depends where you are measuring the voltage, and how good your multimeter is! The PCM reads the voltage at the ignition wire where it enters the PCM connector; there could easily be a big difference in this and the voltage measured at the alternator. This also could indicate a bad...

New Datamaster TT Version available (beta)

341 is current shipping version, but 3.5.0 should be shipping soon. It will be very similar to the beta. When it is complete, it will be posted for download. 341 and above all work fine with XP. If you are using USB, I suggest you use the beta software (or 3.5 when it is released). Gary

New Datamaster TT Version available (beta)

3.3 is very old, and the pressure calibration data published by GM (and used by DM at that time) were wrong. Read the appendix in the manual, it explains this. The later DM versions use accurate values for this. Also, the later DM versions use a 16-bit knock counter instead of the 8-bit knock...

At last ...i found a BIG electric fan

You might also look at a early 90's Taurus (w 3.8 V6). It has a nice 2-speed fan with integral shroud. The motor draws 32 amps on high, so that should give you some idea of the amout of air moved! It is also quiet! Gary

New Datamaster TT Version available (beta)

All, There is a new (beta) version of Datamaster TT posted at http://www.ttspowersystems.com/ Go to the software downloads page and and scroll down to the bottom of the page for the Beta software. It has a lot of minor fixes, has much faster graphing, and adds (better) USB support. Regards...

    OBDI aldl communication

What exactly do you want to see for the wide-band AFR readout? It could be added to datamaster as a new item in the select units display. Gary

    Datamaster

The Belkin F5U103 works great with Datamaster BUT you have to select Options...Advanced...Disable CCM Handshake from the serial Data Acquisition menu. The next version will have a USB option.. It is in the LT1 beta software now! FYI, not all USB adapters will work with the GM ALDL because of...

    Datamaster Accuracy ?

DataMaster is only as good as the data the ECM collects. If your tire size throws the speed calibration off, all the related calculations will be off. However, it should be fairly consistent, and help you figure out if you're in the ballpark! Gary

    DB9 to USB Serial adapter

Yes you MUST use the disable ALDL handshake to work with the USB adapters. And, it turns out the the ALDL timing is ignored when this is done, so dont bother experimenting with this! Gary

    DB9 to USB Serial adapter

You have to assign the Belkin to a com port 1--4 using the Windoze device manager: (USB can assign up to port 255!) 1. Open the Windows Control Panel. 2. Select "System" - this will bring up the System Properties form. 3. Select the Hardware tab 4. Press the Device manager Button - This will...

    DB9 to USB Serial adapter

Bill, the baud rate is established by the ECM and the USB adapter must match this (Datmaster tells the port what baud rate to use). Many USB adapters will not switch to the correct baud rate needed for the GM OBD1 ECMs, and thus will not work. Belkin does work, I have tested then! The USB...

    DB9 to USB Serial adapter

The Belkin F5U103 USB-Serial adapter will work with the current version of Datamaster-TT, but you have to go to the recording screen Options - Advanced menu and make the "Disable CCM Handshake" setting. You may also have to play around with the ALDL Serial Communication - ALDL Link Timing...

    computer for datamaster

Your previous 166 MHz Pentium with 64 meg is a good minimum platform for Datamaster. More MHz will help you get a higher frame rate and improve playback performance tho. Make sure it has a working serial port and see what is available in your budget! Rufus

New ECM allows stock Syclone to read 17.3 PSI?

FYI, There was a thread on this in the Tuning forum a few weeks ago. The full scale reading of the 2-bar MAP sensor is 207 kPa (30.05 PSIA). The BOOST reading sent out by the PCM is corrected for ambiant BARO pressure, and it a guage pressure reading. Thus, if you are at say 4000 feet...

Finally Got Diacom Working. Have a Few Q's (long)

Full scale MAP reading (and sensor range) is 207 kPa which is (x 0.14504) 30.03 PSIa which equals (30.02 - 14.70) = 15.32 PSIg. which is very close to the 15.4 PSIg value Datamaster is reporting for boost. May be off +/- 1 bit due to how the PCM makes its calculations - I do not know if the...

Finally Got Diacom Working. Have a Few Q's (long)

For the 2-bar sensor, DataMaster uses MAP kPa = (0.781 * N) + 8 which gives a range of 8 to 207 kPa. This was determined by measuring actual sensors (see the appendix in the PDF manual for info), as the GM documentation on this is incorrect. Boost is a guage pressure measurement (not absolute)...

Need Diacom Map KPA 2-bar readings

Bob, The version 341 of datamaster is using the full 16-bit value of the knock counter. Previous versions (and Diacom) just use the upper 8-bits of this value. This is why you see more counts. You'll also note the value increases in bursts of 100 or therebouts, this is normal. Gary

Need Diacom Map KPA 2-bar readings

Bob, I just accessed TTS download page http://www.ttspowersystems.com/dm_dload.htm and got disk one of the "TT" program no problem. Probably the net was just slow from your location. Gary

Need Diacom Map KPA 2-bar readings

Bob, If you download the latest Datamaster manual ( http://www.ttspowersystems.com ), in Appendix I there is a table comparing the calibrations of 2-and 3-bar MAP sensors. That may help you figure out your MAP calibration. However, the 1-bar is not included in the appendix at this time. Oh...
