    Happy New Year from Alaska!

Re: Happy New Year from Alaska! Judging by the heavy equipment as a size comparison that snowman is bigger than ours. Snowzilla was built in a residential neighborhood in some guy's front yard. It's quite an attraction as a lot of people stop by to take pictures. This morning it was a balmy...

    Happy New Year from Alaska!

Re: Happy New Year from Alaska! Yep, it starts with no problem. The autostart works well and the truck does great on the snow and ice. My garage is already full with 3 classic cars tucked away for the winter. My wife and I saw a white Typhoon yesterday afternoon, first one I've seen up here...

    Happy New Year from Alaska!

Re: Happy New Year from Alaska! My truck had been lowered by the previous owner so for the winter it has oversized studded snow tires to give a little more ground clearance. I'm running 235/60R16's which also make the speedo read about 5mph slower than your actually going. Today it's 15...

    Happy New Year from Alaska!

Re: Happy New Year from Alaska! Yea, Snowzilla as it's called, was torn down by the city once but it was rebuilt almost immediately. Since then the city has left it alone.

    Happy New Year from Alaska!

Happy New Year to everyone from Anchorage where it's been consistently below zero the past several days:squint: Fortunately my wife bought a remote start for Christmas. No engine block heater needed; at least not yet! Happy 2009!

    My First Kill

Re: My First Kill Are they both LS2's with the Silverado SS being detuned or are they completely different motors? Also was curious how a stock Syclone would do against a stock STI or EVO?

    My First Kill

Re: My First Kill Well, thanks to you Tim and Montana for all of your hard work the past 8 months, it wouldn't have gotten done without you guys:myclone: Talked to Montana yesterday and he's gonna get with you regarding picking up all the extra parts and coordinate a day and time for all of us...

    My First Kill

Re: My First Kill I looked up the specs and the stock Silverado SS is 6.0 L V8 with 345hp 0-60 in 6.3sec and the stock Trailblazer SS is the same motor but with 390hp and a 0-60 in 5.5sec. Anyone know how a stock Syclone would stand up against a stock Ford Lightning? On dry pavement of course..

    My First Kill

Re: My First Kill Only the intersection at the light was a bit slick; the actual highway was clear and dry otherwise we wouldn't have raced. I decided to back off approaching a curve that I thought might be slick especially since the speedo was indicating 120mph. In some places our roads are...

    My First Kill

Re: My First Kill We do have them here; more than you would expect but they are either not running or they don't get driven year round.

    My First Kill

Well it finally happened and not long after my truck is running again. Wasn't sure if this was much of a kill but I was going to work one morning late last week when this driver in a late model Chevy Silverado SS was trying to get me to race. We already have some snow on the roads here in...

Hope I didn't blow it; Continued

Re: Hope I didn't blow it; Continued I guess a final post for this thread...My truck is running great; will probably install an autostart in the near future. I need to replace the front lower ball joints and repair the bent front bumper drivers side where the tow truck damaged it last March...

Hope I didn't blow it; Continued

Re: Hope I didn't blow it; Continued Well my truck broke because of my own stupidity in the first place so I am not going to repeat the mistake I made back in March. After driving my wife's Hyundai Elantra and other small 4cyl cars; driving the Syclone feels like a brute in comparison with so...

Hope I didn't blow it; Continued

Re: Hope I didn't blow it; Continued From what I have researched GM detuned the automatic for that reason though I don't know why they didn't put in a strong enough tranny to handle the power. The HP rating for the automatic is 235 for 1st & 2nd gear only then it goes to 250 for 3rd & 4th...

Hope I didn't blow it; Continued

Re: Hope I didn't blow it; Continued Do you know if the engine tuning on the automatic can be modified to have the same HP figures as the manual? I'd like to get the 5spd but we already have a manual transmission car and my wife doesn't want us buying another manual. I've driven this...

Hope I didn't blow it; Continued

Re: Hope I didn't blow it; Continued I will keep an eye on it; thanks. I've been thinking about buying an HHR SS, I noticed you have an '08, is it the Manual or Automatic? There is a used '08 I was looking at with 8,000 miles on in victory red that I liked. It has the automatic tranny which...

Hope I didn't blow it; Continued

Re: Hope I didn't blow it; Continued It turns out that mine only had the two brackets. The bracket that appeared to mount to the lower intake manifold (center bracket) was never installed in the first place. I did make sure both brackets I do have are attached at the proper locations.

Hope I didn't blow it; Continued

Re: Hope I didn't blow it; Continued It was a monumental night last night, no not the election results, we finally finished reassembling my truck and actually got it started! It's running again :D:D What's left to do is get a hold of a timing light and set the timing. Once that's done it's...
