Re: F/S 1992 Typhoon #0141
The trans that I have to swap is good. I bought it in the spring from Toolmann. He is a member here. He can tell you all you need to know about it.
I hate to sell it but it has just been sitting for 5 years and I will never get it moving again. 146,000 miles. Engine is strong still. Body is in good shape. Needs a trans rebuild or swap out. I bought a trans from a member with a Ty with similar mileage. Just rebuilt turbo and did a CAI...
Re: Trans. Help
I am pretty sure that it is gone also. I have a stock trans. from Toolman in Boston, MA that I am going to switch out to get the truck on the road again. Then I will use my stocker for a rebuild core. Thanks for the comments!
Re: Boston Metro Area Roll Call
I'd be in but I don't have a running truck right now. Probabally won't be running until Sept. or even later. Could still show up though.
I dropped my tranny pan tonite to start the process of the swap. It was leaking fluid and didn't move the truck at all or go into gear unless it ran for a while. I noticed that the red connector in the picture wasn't properly seated. I had to push it in and heard a snap. Would this cause any...
I was putting on a new cowl hood yesterday and making the adjustments. My front two hood bumper adjustments were turned all the way down. I shut the should before I was ready to and the hood latched. Now it doesn't unlatch. You pull the release handle and nothing happens. Unfortunally, my...
Re: Your trucks running condition
Non driveable, but will be soon. Have to put the turbo back in, swap out a trans, do a brake job, tune up, have the cowl hood painted, and do a stock airbox delete. Im hoping for August.
I spoke to the guy, he said that it was removed by a dealership in New Hampshire trying to solve a power issue in a Typhoon. It ended up not being the problem. He said that there is nothing wrong with it. It has been sitting on a shelf for years and he ended up with it. Here is the link...
Re: Turbo Heat Sheild Removal
Yeah, I tried that, no luck. I also am using a small flat tip and cleaning around the ring with some PB blast. It is just so tight that I can't get anything in to pry at it. I also tried to heat it up a little bit to free it. I also thought to try to put...
I took my turbo out today to refresh the gaskets and the bearings. I can't get the heat sheild out of the turbine houseing to free the wheel. Any suggestions. I assume that it just takes patience because of the age. Thanks in Advance.

Re: SY catback question
Borla makes a nice system for our trucks. It's catcack and stainless. Not a very throaty sound but I like it on my Ty. I think I paid $600 for it about 8 years ago.
Re: 8"SUBS?
I have 2 10" JL Audio W0's in a dealed box run by an Xtant 3300 amp. The amp puts out 150 X 4 and 300 to the sum channel I believe. I also have Q-Logic kick panels for highs and mids. They go down near the floor on both sides of the cab. These would sound really good in a Sy as...
Re: barely moves
I have the same problem with my Ty. I have to let it run and get warm before it will move. If not, I have to really stand on the gas to get it to budge. It is also leaking fluid around the front seal when at idle and trying to move. I'm pulling mine and having it rebuilt...
