My truck has a new home

Re: My truck has a new home Wow, it's been a long time since I posted on this forum. The guy who bought my Syclone moved away but it looks like he may be back in town. My wife saw what looked like our old Syclone today. Wish I had never sold it:( Oh well, may be another one someday.

Hi, my name is Dave Taylor and I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I am looking at possibly buying a 92 Typhoon that I believe used to be yours. It's white with dual exhausts and it's #2351. Can you possibly tell me little about it's history while you owned it? Thanks.

My truck has a new home

Well my wife and I sold a couple of our vehicles the past week...gone are the 64 Corvair and my Syclone (#2227). A young man locally bought it and now it's his pride and joy. I recommended he check in on this forum for help and advice. In the meantime my wife bought a 2010 Hyundai Genesis...

    Radio acting up

Re: Radio acting up These trucks did not come with a factory installed external amp. The amp is built in to the radio. I did try an aftermarket Eclipse stereo and the problem went away so it wasn't bad speakers.

    Radio acting up

Re: Radio acting up I have the Delco AM/FM Cassette w/equalizer and the AM Stereo button. It has loss of volume level in the right front speaker but nowhere else. I have cleaned the controls and checked the speakers and connections and all is okay. In my case the radio has an internal...

    rough idle

Re: rough idle Had a similar problem with mine. All my vacuum lines were okay, also changed to NGK UR5 plugs (haven't had much luck with iridium) and checked the timing which was too retarded. After that those problems went away. Good Luck.

    Kool kruz

Re: Kool kruz Had a great time yesterday at the Kool Kruz. I ran my Syclone on the strip for the first time and got some reasonably good numbers for a stock truck. 3 drivers had their chances at driving it and here's the breakdown for the 1/4 mile... AKRYDER86 (Montana): 13.4 TIMBO (Tim...

Re: sy #1693 for sale in alaska Ah, Fort Wainwright okay...thought you might of been stationed here. Anyway I knew an oriental fellow named Jonah who sold a Syclone to someone in Fairbanks around 6 months ago. That wouldn't happen to of been you is it? Some of the parts he had on his truck...

sy #1693 for sale in alaska

Re: sy #1693 for sale in alaska Was curious if you've hooked up with any other syty owners up here? There are quite a few people whom I know that might would be interested in your truck. Your email address indicates you are probably Army stationed at Ft. Rich? I have a Syclone as well...

    Daily Driver Typhoon

Re: Daily Driver Typhoon My wife bought me a syclone for my birthday back in '07. The body & interior were in excellent condition but the motor blew up within 2 weeks after we bought it. Fortunately we had the money to replace the motor & tranny. Since then the only problems we've had with...

    Befuddled?

Re: Befuddled? My dist was new when I received my NOS crate motor back in '07. It was built in '93 and mean't to go in a Typhoon and came from PAS before they shut down. If the timing drifts off again in the near future then I will certainly check the dist. Thanks.

    Befuddled?

Re: Befuddled? Only thing I can figure is either I didn't tighten down the distributor enough and it worked loose over time or it didn't get set right in the first place. Since it was running great back in Nov thru Feb I suspect the distributor worked loose and came out of adjustment enough...

    Befuddled?

Re: Befuddled? Finally the problems are resolved. I took my truck in to a certified ASE mechanic where my wife works and he discovered the timing was way off! That was one of the things I didn't check thinking that we just set the timing back in Nov, how could it be off now! Oh well, lesson...

    Befuddled?

Re: Befuddled? No I don't, only the stock gauge. Under WOT conditions datamaster shows my vacuum dropping to -0.4 HG whereas when I looked at a datamaster file on Tooky's site his readings showed 20.94 HG of vacuum under WOT on a stock truck...What gives?

    Befuddled?

Re: Befuddled? I used good vac lines made out of rubber, not the silicone type. We don't have Autozone in Alaska but do have lots of parts stores that I can check with.

    Befuddled?

Re: Befuddled? I have run new vacuum lines throughout the truck but have not replaced any of the check valves yet, and I do have that vacuum port next to the TPS blocked off securely. I forgot to mention in my initial post that I had also replaced the fuel filter, PCV valves and am using a 180...

    Befuddled?

I've been reviewing the topics in our forums trying to find out what the problem is with my stock syclone. After the truck has warmed up I get what feels like a miss or hesitation driving around town at 35 or 40 mph. This started about 2 months ago and had slowly been getting worse. The...

a few kills with the clone

Re: a few kills with the clone Too much ice and snow on the roads to do that in Alaska right now though the turbo loves this cold dense air. Is your Sy stock or modded?
