Well......I guess theives are getting dumber by each breeding. Sounds to me like they were after the engine and drivetrain for a swap since they had NO regard for the body.........Peckerheads.

I am not sure if they got it to start for a few seconds, then pushed it out of haste, or what the deal was. They even started twisting wires under the dash, so my guess is that, even without the cladding they knew what it was, and wanted drivetrain.

Kind of a blessing, kind of sucks.

I will likely be buying it back, but do not have plans to keep. Needs more love and time then I can give. Intentions are, to get all the cladding loaded up, post pictures, and ebay it.

Reasons:
its worth more in parts then whole, but it can be an organ (-parts) donor for better trucks, but parting out takes more time then I have.

let someone who has wanted one the chance to get in on one cheap, and mostly complete, who can live with salvage title vehicle.
I should hear about buyout $$ tomorrow.
The bonus about the pump being dead is that the thieves didnt get a chance to damage the motor or transmission.

because the insurance company is going to fvck ya... BIG TIME! and if you have allstate put your gloves on and get ready for a fight.

3 weeks after i bought my truck for 12k with 39k on it, i got rearended. my insurance came out did and estimate and totaled the truck. 2 days later i get a call from them offering me 8500... i laughed and said they better check the blue book and call me back, they told me that they dont use blue book value, they use "fair market value" and adjust the settlement from that. At the time their fair market value for syclones showed a record of 2 syclone sales... one the east coast for 7000 with over 100k on it, and one in wisconsin for 8500 with 93k on it. i told them my truck only had 41k at the time of the accident, they said well they might bump up the total amount for low mileage but not much. when i told them i just bought the truck 3 weeks ago for 14k they told me it wasnt their fault that i paid too much for the truck.

then Allstate came out and did their estimate and thats a whole other 10 page story in itself... those clowns were going to try and use some cheap ass after market S-10 ground effects kit on my truck to replace the broken cladding. until i called up and raised holy hell... i had to fight them for 9 months to get my truck completely repainted, get my cladding replaced with GM factory parts, and to have the cladding painted. the funny thing is the final repair bill came out to be just shy of 12000.

good luck to ya! hope ya at least get 5grand for it.

They weren't going to start the truck with the ALDL wires :rotf:

A lot of time Insurance Companies will low ball you on the first offer. Use Autotrader if they try to give you bull about recent sales, be calm persistant. Usually you can negotiate a reasonable settlement.

I printed out Autotrader add for truck with similar mileage, ranging from 7500 to 10500. I also printed out ebay auctions showing replacement value for parts, such as fuel tank, pump, and carpet. I also told them I have/had 1K into paint supplies, having painted it 2 time to get it where I wanted it.
Reasons I am not going to make a mint
I paid 6k for truck. Truck has 160K. Paint was in the midst of buffing out. Cladding was not on vehicle.
My goal, is to come out with inital investment, plus truck, and sell truck whole or parts, to get paint and other items back. Plus several years of ownership, to boot. I should come out ok.

Thats what I was thinking, they tryed to start it off of those wires haha! Hope somehow it all works out for you in the end though. :tup:

yeah my friend got his sy totaled a few months ago they wanted to give him 2500 we had to fight and argue then they gave him 11,000 they are right be ready to fight

They came to the table with more then I had in purchase and parts. Buyback was cheap. They were not interested in repair / replace, and would have only shelled out 2500 for repairs. I might have been able to pull it for that, but with the mileage, they were not inclined to want to fix it, and they sure didn't want it back. Should see a check tomorrow, and decide what the next step is.

what the hell did they push it w/ another vehicle...It goes to show what people will do to drive one of these even if only for a few minutes...Sorry for the loss, I would buy it back from them w/ the check they give you and restore it...Good luck...

Thanks Danen. We will see. One of a couple things will happen, last is least likely.

Sell it complete to someone to put back together.

Part it out, (I view it as organ donation to keep nicer trucks on the road), and keep heart for another project.

Repair and keep.
