1270HP AWD Syclone TT????

Re: 1270HP AWD Syclone TT????

There maybe a couple thoughts on the rear end:

-If radials are used (and non-sticky) it might not be such an issue, other than
c-clip (but even this can be gotten around if disc brakes are in the rear)
-If drag radials/slicks are installed, then 12 bolt, or 9" Ford (with larger splines) required,
since traction breaks things, but I dont know what rear ratio John intends on using (especially
with the TH400). So he might be "experimenting".

John (and Jared) are really nice guys, so if asked they might let loose some more details...
(Im glad the ET Fame is being spread around, as odd-fires are special. Now if everyone
in the 9 sec or faster category lines up at the nationals, it could be a "Field-of-Dreams" experience).

Didnt Woundup go 9.55 on a stock rear and trasfer case or am I mistaken?

Woundups V8 TT Sy only made a few 1/4 mile pass, maybe 6 at the track. The subsquent owners broke a lot of parts shortly after.

I know the current owner has made a fair # of runs, just didn't post them here.

I talked to him couple weeks back on the phone, truck is undergoing some new changes and revisions.

No matter what ANYONE tells you ......you will never keep a 700 together with anything over 600/700 hp........mine did last awhile but after the track I did some nitrous launches and broke damn ner every part in the 700.....the truck has so much more power now with the 400...will dyno it in a couple weeks and I will let you guys know what it does
Hey John!

Thanks for dropping that issue of truck builder off at the shop the other day. I do not think even the guy that wrote the artical knows what this beast is capable of. Now that is is running better and you have your trans problem solved let's dyno that beast again. I cannot wait to see quadrouple digits on the analog meter on the screen!

For all of you fellow Sy-Ty'ers. Listen to what John has to say and take his advice when he gives it to you. He inspired me to build a similar setup on my Syclone. I had the turbos, headers and heads but realized that it would take over 60 grand to build another TT Syclone. The amount of time and money John has poured into this Sy is crazy. Everything on this Sy is detailed down to the alternator pully. This IS truly the FASTEST TT V6 Syclone on the planet period. As John stated we will be dynoing this beast again here soon.

i think the truck looks cool and he has definately spend the TIME AND MONEY to do it right. i dont think there's any way possible to be the fastest on radial tires, unless someone knows something we dont. with some slicks or ET Streets it could definately be the fastest especially with 1200 HP, but not with radials. just my opinion. i would like to see him prove me wrong bc that means we could all learn somethin!

did it make 1270 w/ 60-1s? if so thats pretty impressive, borderline unbelievable. Either way, super nice truck with lots of attention to detail. Glad to see more really powerful trucks coming out of the closet. hopefully this years Nats will have a much better turn out then the last few. keep up the good work!

Radials coupled with an insanely complex and expensive launch traction control system (like those used in Grand Prix cars) might make it close... ;) I'm looking into how those things work right now, it'd be a bitchin' mod for the street, not to mention how the truck would sound...

Exactly why I personally chose to run 91oct and methanol. Of course... I'm not anywhere these power levels but will surprise a LOT of cars on the street.

Re: 1270HP AWD Syclone TT????

I have a motec traction control unit............they dont work with allwheel drive and no it did not make 1270hp it made 1123hp with 60-1s believe it or not......maybe some of you guys should try motec and get some power out of these trucks.............just got my 160lb injectors so I will let you all know what it makes in a couple weeks

Re: 1270HP AWD Syclone TT????

When i priced motec for the oddfire with coil on plug it was about $10k by the time you are all said and done. Not sure what package you have, but i know MIke Callahan also went the motec route, and his truck is built to thrown down some numbers. If i ever upgrade it will be to the KAM unit out of las vegas..

but as for the 1123hp.. Pretty darn impressive! how much boost? nitrous or no?

As for the traction control you just need GPS and a driveshaft sensor. I'm sure you could figure out the rest john.

Re: 1270HP AWD Syclone TT????

no nitrous........30lbs of boost......but that was on a bad tune within the first week it was at the dyno and at 6200 rpm.......the cam is good from 4500 to 9400 rpm so I have a long way to go ...oh and the injectors were at 100% duty hence the 160s I have now

Re: 1270HP AWD Syclone TT????

no way does it cost 60k to build a tt syclone, unless you do zero labor yourself.

I may be wrong but knowing garret underrates its turbos, but i think the 60's are rated at 600 hp each.

and who says you cant run the numbers on drag radials just wait. :)

ya know this is why I never tell anyone what I think it will runwhen they ask.......I have been street racing all my life and believe it or not this is really the first turbo vehicle I have ever built(well built to this level) and no matter what anyone says I am happy as sh-t at the way it turned out even though some like it and some might not but I do.As far as the not wanting anybody to know what is in my build....I dont really care if you guys ask cuz I will tell you anything except what I have for a cam.............Thanks for all the compliments and criticizams(is that how you spell that?)cant spell but man can I build a engine!

Re: 1270HP AWD Syclone TT????

as far as a build cost 60 grand. When you add up everything that you are going to need to build then engine, trans, intercooler, radiator, trans cooler, oil cooler, wheels & tires, headers, exhaust turbos, ignitions system you may be shocked at how much you spent to build your truck. I've kept track of every penny in my build and i have over 70 grand in parts.

personally i can't wait to see the truck in person and i hope to have a chance to talk with John in the very near future and tell him in person how impressed i am with his truck.
