i'm new to this forum. i'm working on a friends 2000 silverado 4.3l with 5spd 2wd. he bought a used sts kit off of a guy. it was a good deal. $900 for everything. we are gonna do a sts mount but it is going to be very close to the y pipe underneath. the turbo is a gt3555* can't rember the last letter. suppose to be good to support 550hp. we are doing a marine intake swap so that he can have upgradeable injectors. i will be useing hptuners to tune the thing. now that have given most the specs on what we are doing. i have some questions. from what i understand you can't use 350 rods because of the crank. so i found some eagle 4.3l rods. but i guess you can use 350 pistons. and the trw's seem to be recommend on here quit abit. so i found some with a part number L2441F-30. how strong are these things? and with stock crank, eagle h-beam rods, and these pistons. about how much boost or hp could this motor hold before the stock crank lets go or the block.
he wants to keep it on the not so costly side. so he don't want to do the 4 bolt main swap and all that stuff. just stock block with a rods and pistons. it has the vortec heads. he is looking at getting a cam. but i can't find any good specs on the heads to know how the flow, so i know what lift of cam to go with. still looking for a for sure cc on the combustion chamber of the heads too.
ok sorry so long but this is my first 4.3l build. and i want to do it best i can for the guy.
thanks,
Mike
here is a pic of the intake.
