Re: 9 sec syclone build!

Do you have a gallery with more pictures of your engine? I really wanted to look at your headers and the way that they connect to the wastegate and then back to the downpipe. Your build is unique due to the vband exhaust housing.

Thanks!

Aaron

I will take some and post them up for you!!

Re: 9 sec syclone build!

Keith and I went on the Danger Ride today!! Almost ran out of gas just about made it to the GS. It was a success nothing leaking or smoking!! Trans shifted threw all the gears and no overheating.. Tune is a bit rough but ill get that handled on the dyno in a few weeks. Don't think ill make a track hit this late in the year .That gives me all winter to enjoy it before I blow it up in the spring gunning for a 9 second slip.

Re: 9 sec syclone build!

Update!! over the last few months heres what transpired!
I got out to drive the truck around as much as I could. I did a lot of street tuning and got it running really good. I haven't went passed 12# of boost since I had no boost controller yet. Just ran off the wastegate spring on pump gas.

After about 200 miles of driving and getting the tune up to 12psi dilled in real good, I made the switch to E85. swapped out the 84# injectors for 120#. Picked up some 55 gallon drums from the local car wash or free cleaned them out real good. Had to go over the bridge into PA. to get them filled ( no Local stations sell e85 near me) Added about 35% to my fuel map and fired it up on the Corn Juice!! It started right up I didn't expect that.

Took about a half a tank of E85 but its now running good. Target AFR's are on point. It has a lot more torque now too.

Ive got about 50 gallons threw it now and ive been beating up on it pretty good . Time to install the boost controller and start turning it up..

Boost controller came in today!! Its a CO2 assisting staged controller from Leash Electronics. There a small company and Ive heard some real good things about his Boost controllers and Bump boxes. I ran a AMS 1000 with CO2 in my Typhoon, Its a great controller but the Leash controller is 550.00 compared to 900.00 for the AMS. I figured id give it a try.

Here is the CO2 Tank and regulator!

Weather is getting warmer Tracks are open now. Looks like after I get this boost controller installed ill go make some passes and log some runs so I can crunch the data!!

I still have to install Rear Caltrac's and Sportsmachines front coil overs with a Tubular A-arms. I want to run it with stock suspension then upgraded to see how much 60 foot times change.

More to come!!

Re: 9 sec syclone build!

Drove the syclone to the track last night!! Wanted to get some Data on a full !/4 mile pass before turning up the boost. Im still completely redoing my fuel and timing map since the swith to E85. Its been challenging to say the least.
1 lbs launch !! 10 pounds of boost on the wastegate spring. 12.46@119 was the result. Truck ran very smooth for base tune i conjured up from thin air..

What was the 60? You definitely left soft. Cant wait to see what it does when you leave hard/full boost. What will you leave at when its dialed in?

It was a 1.950 60 ft. Again i was really only there for the wide open throttle data logs. Ive been driving it around for weeks now, part throttle and drive ability is pretty much dialed in. For now she still has all the stock suspension . I have Caltracs and a Sportmachines coil over kit to install still. I didn't expecting anything great from the 60 foot.

As far as whats expected id be happy with some low 1.4 60s. My Typhoons best was a 1.51. Most Syclones have better short times, longer wheel base and weight difference i guess.

Afr ratios were way off at wot, shift points all over the place ,timing was set at a super safe setting. Ive got some adjustments to make as well as get the boost controller installed as well as the suspension upgrades. Next trip will be another story!!

When do you think you will get back to the track? And good luck, cant wait to hear how you do. Oh and....what did you use to paint the frame in the engine bay?

Frank power washed the frame and engine bay with degreaser. We used Eastwood Black Rust Encapsulator in spray first like a primer. Then a top coat of Eastwood Matte Black 2k Ceramic Chassis paint

You have to catch the 2k Ceramic stuff on sale it is so expensive but the results are well worth it. It lays out so nice in 1 coat after a primer.

MPH is nice. Wallace Calculator says 465hp from that number.
Can't wait 'till you turn it up.
