Re: '92 Typhoon in Siberia

I bought 255 Walbro and 4 of KYB monomax shocks, they'll be here in 3-4 weeks. I decided to postpone t-case parts, because winter will soon be over and I'm still doing fine with RWD.
Yesterday I took Ty to the shop to check the exhaust and replace some tubes down there. It happened to be worse then I expected - a lot of holes, cracks and so on, some flanges are welded together (that's how they save money in mother Russia, a$$holes :(), and overall condition of exhaust system is very bad. Price estimate was $150 at first, but after throughout inspection it was raised to $500. I could buy a new exhaust if I was living in US :( I'll check with some other shops this week, and then I'll have to spend some more bucks.

Sometimes I'm thinking about buying a welder, so I can do this stuff myself.

I'll buy some UR5's also. I've just read that Acdelco spark plugs suck, especially ones you can buy in Russia (as I did). Its like 2-3 out of 10 won't last for 2 month. I really hope that's the problem. :)

Re: '92 Typhoon in Siberia

It really looks like that good exhaust system took a little bit off my fuel consumption problems. Didn't measure it precisely yet, but it sure looks like that.

Some bad news - I'm going to buy a BMW for my dear lady, and Ty's funds will be lowered, at least for some time. Damn. But women are more important then trucks, right? :)

You've got mail!

Shocks, walbro, some rubber rings, propshaft bolts and other minor loot. And some clothing :)

Now I just need to find some time to install all this stuff. *sigh*

Re: '92 Typhoon in Siberia

Removed front suspension. There are still factory ball joints! Right header is blocking upper shock bolt, can't remove it yet. Damn, what were they thinking?

On the upper hand - all bolts and nuts are quite good, I wasn't even close to breaking something.

Damn, I'm so damn tired, my legs and back are killing me. :( I'll try to make some pics today, so you guys can understand how hard it is to fix stuff in Russia :)

Re: '92 Typhoon in Siberia

Damn, I forgot to buy new torsion mounts :(

New shocks are good, truck feels rock solid. There are still noises from torsion crossbar in the back, and some occasional heavy clangs and bangs somewhere on the passenger side, in front. I can't imagine what it is - the whole suspension is new. I'll get to it after torsion mounts.

Yep. Ball joints, control arm bushings, tie rods, shocks, and sway bar bushings.

Re: '92 Typhoon in Siberia

Its official: VC is fried. Fkfkfk.

I wonder what's the weight of the t-case.

Today I was fixing some minor things here and there, then I decided to go home, and...

ATF fountain from somewhere, this $hit hit the fan and front end is real mess. Damn.
And here comes the bastard:

No big surprise thought, my truck is loaded with stuff like this:

I think this is an aftermarket ATF cooler, right?

Someday I'm gonna rip all this crap away, and make everything right.

Re: '92 Typhoon in Siberia

Where is it coming from? The actual heat exchanger?? Or a hose? That is for the water to air intercooler me thinks.

Re: '92 Typhoon in Siberia

It was coming from the hose, you can see one on second picture.
I don't have water to air intercooler, but there are there two heat exchangers below the front bumper. Rear one is for engine oil, and little one in front is for ATF.
