Adjustable Fuel pressure regulator?

So I replaced my stock fuel pump with a Walbro 255 high volume fuel pump and I was wondering if I should replace my fuel pressure regulator with a adjustable one.

Is this something i should think about? I did notice the truck is running rich and some black smoke out the exhaust

could just be a bad regulator

suggestions?

I would replace it and make sure that you have the right fuel pressure with the vacuum line off the regulator

I can't find Dave P's post on setting base pressure and then using the short and long term fuel trims to find what your truck uses. Anyone else better at searching? Or Dave can you chime in?

You want the long term BLM to be ideally at 128 (i think the range is 108 to 150). The short term is basically a don't care as the long term is an average of the short term. Our ECM has 2 BLM values, one for idle and one for main VE table. You want to prioritize adjusting the cruising BLM over the idle BLM.
