Anyone else have a squeaky back window

Mine started last year and I can't seem to get rid of it. I tried tape around the striker but that just makes it go away till the tape wears through. Anyone have a more permanent solution.

I found a solution, and then tried it on Ron's (camino70) Ty, and apparently on his it is still working and mine has not squeaked since the summer.

Wheel bearing grease. simple as that.

I got my first ride in a bad squeeky window blazer last weekend.. f-typhoons ;P

You guys are insane to put up with that for more then 5 minutes.

GM sells a kit that is supposed to help. I dont know for sure. We did charle's kit he bought, came with new hinges and pads that hold the window to the hinge. I did notice his old hinges had quite a lot of play side to side, where the new were tight.. May be a solution other then half fixes everyone else seems to have.

Yep and this resolved about 90% of my squeaking. Only time I here a slight squeak is over ROUGH roads at highway speed. I think if I figure out how to replace that "striker" it'll take care of the rest of it.

P.S. - Thanks for help this weekend Ian

i had the same problem with my blazer. the squeaking on mine was caused by that "pointy rod" that screws into the glass, next to that "u bolt thing" that hits the striker.

ok ok you know what im talking about!

anyway, the "pointy rod" kept coming loose, and causing the squeaking. i wrapped some... ok a lot of electrical tape around the threads, and got a wrench and tightened that bastard in there... its been quiet ever since!

Here's my fix.
I take about a 2" piece of rubber vacuum tubing, splice it down the middle, and use 2 small wire ties and attach it to the ubolt on the glass. It will close very tight the 1st time, until it wears a groove into the rubber. It will last for a while, depending on how often you open and close the rear glass.

Well, everything else in these trucks move, squeek and clunk anyway, the rear window is only a small percentage of the interior noise  I usually have a few pieces of interior paneling sweeking, the pass side door panel has always made a rattle noise, i got the damn sunroof (we wont discuss that), got the rear seat floppin all over the place, so I can live with the tailgate.

This was Daron's answer from the LIST,

You could do what I do and take the plastic cover off the inside of the
tailgate and adjust the latch retaining mechanism. Toward the front and up a
bit ( with tailgate down) will snug the window down. Adjust in small
increments.
Don't forget those bolts that secure the window to the hinges. They
loosen/distort the hinge and need to be tightened once in a while.
Later,
Daron
