Better motor mounts

I have used the search function, and have spent the past 2 hours sifting thru 15 of 80+ pages of information that has absolutely nothing to do with upgraded motor mounts.

Is there a better motor mount made for the 4.3??? That's all I wanna know...

Yes. Get the mounting brakets from Jeff, on the site posted above and go solid. Don't go with the poly stuff it will melt.

Who makes the polyurethane mounts, and why do they melt? The solid mounts seem like they would be a little harsh on a daily driver....

How bout it?
Energy suspension makes them, but they will melt. Just go solid with a poly tranny mount. You don't want to have to change these twice. Just run a search on poly mounts and read all the results.

I keep the mounts in stock and the pads can be had from the above specified vendors.

Moroso 62500 - Zinc Plated - $29.99 pair
Moroso 62560 - Chrome Plated - $39.99 pair

Both of these are SBC .250" mounts with a 1-11/16" height (A) and 2-1/2" length (B). A measures height of frame pad ear (from base of pad to the center of the through-bolt hole), and B measures the width of the pad from ear to ear.

FWIW, the use of solid mounts doesn't provide any additional harshness to the idle or ride. It only adds to the rigidity of the truck and increased longevity of part known to commonly fail. Basically, no side effects, and you never have to worry about it again.

Solid are the way to go. I put them on my truck and I love them. Didn't really effect the ride much. Just a little bit more shake at the start up.

I highly recommend the solid mounts from JS

I would probably do solid mounts next time, but my poly's are holding up fine. I used the stock shields with heat reflective tape and also added an insulated heat blanket on the heats shield which wrap around the motor mounts. My mount survived the two 9 hour gas/lunch stop to pittsburg and back. They look liked new still, I was going to use some headers wrap on them, but haven't gotten around to it yet (I really don't want to do motor mounts again)
