Anybody got a picture of the "B.O.D." installed? I just want to see how much clearance you get... I tried making my own using the plastic storage container, but I think Jim's would probably look more "business-like"!
The blade of death drops down probably 4-5 inches lower than the stock piece of crud plastic. In his instructions with the blade, though, the notes that if you can't deal with that little of clearance you can bend the scoop at its halfway point.
Speaking of the blade, if Jesse (HuRyde) happens to glance at this post, I sent out the scoop yesterday (12/24) via priority, so you should have it within a few days.
I am currently out of stock but should have some more ready next week sometime. I'll have a good picture of one mounted tomorrow along with some pics of the ZR1 wheels mounted, corvette roll bars, and a custom Passport SR1 installation. In the mean time, you can see the installation by Randy Reed at:
While we are on this blade of death topic. I dont even have one of them goofy plastic deflector things on my lower IC cause it never came with one when i bought it. So do i need that too if i get the BOD?
It definitely directs much more air thru the CCHE than the stock unit. A few years ago on the way home from work, cruising on the highway with only hotwired IC pump and BOD, I frosted over the IC completely. It was quite cold outside, but never did that with the stock piece.
Brad; you're like many owners, the factory air deflector (skid plate) breaks and falls off early in the life of the trucks. Many people don't even know they are supposed to have one. They are important in managing the air flow though the engine complartment. However, you don't have to get one with the Blade of Death. Either part can be installed and used separately.
I have a new pic of the front of my Ty showing the blade of death. I'll add it to my signature as soon as I figure out how to do that. Otherwise, I can e-mail pics to anyone. Also have pics of wheels and other corvette stuff from Longwith's trim & accessories.
