The other day a co-worker was following me after work. I kicked it down from 60 to 80 to shrick his Dodge Hemi ego a bit. The next day he told me that I had some Black smoke coming from the exhaust right when I hit WOT. I did a search and all I could find was members having Black smoke all the time. Is this normal for syty's or is there anything I can look at? The Ecm sensor has been changed. Thanks :-?

Usually......

Black smoke = rich mixture
White smoke = coolant
Blue smoke = oil

Our trucks do run richer @ WOT than most every other car out there due to the fact that we have to tune in enough fuel to prevent detonation as well as fuel the truck @ WOT. When you say that the ECM sensor has been changed.....which one do you mean? Did the smoking result from this change or was it done to potentially remedy the situation?

Plenty of things could cause a rich condition (O2, MAP, TPS, stuck injector, FP too high, etc....). I wouldn't sweat it too bad (better to be rich @ WOT than lean), but I'd get a scantool on it soon to see what's up.

I changed the Ecm sensor that is in the intake by the thermo. My temp gauge was not working after I got my ty out of storage and the guy at the parts store gave me the Ecm sensor instead of the Coolant temp sensor so I just changed it since I had it. As for the Black smoke, a friend of mine told me that I was getting some at WOT about 4 months ago when I got it out of storage, just thought it was from not driving it for awhile.
