Re: blow off valve

a BOV has nothing to do with your exhuast.. it has to be mounted after the turbo before the throttle body.. here's a pic of someone's engine bay with one installed (purple)

Quite a few folks on here, myself included, are running a HKS Super Sequential:

It has been proven that this isn't a necessary mod on these trucks but, it doesn't hurt either. I think price prevents more folks from running them.

Where are you tied into your vacumm source at? It needs to be on the other side of the throttle body to work.

Re: blow off valve

Blow off valves are not as simple to get right as bolting one in-line before the TB and after the turbo.

The air lost venting to the atmosphere has already be read by the ECU and it won't change the fuel to compensate for lost air.

The most realistic way to do it right is to use a set-up that recirculates the air back in to the system after the air inlet.

I believe WRC rally cars vent to atmosphere but also have a set-up that allows the ECU to compensate.

Here is a link with blow off valve information.

In manuals it is more of an advantage to keep the turbo spooling while you shift gears.
In an auto it is a glorified noisemaker. How often do you just decide to lift at full boost?

Theory is right but honestly the only time the BOV vents is when you are lifting off the pedal while under boost. (TB Blades = closed)
Once you lift the pedal you are no longer in boost nor under load so if it runs lean for a split second while the turbo spools down it is not damaging anything.
I don't think we need to worry about recirculating systems.
Well unless you are in a green state that hawks emissions. like cali

That is true but it only applies to a vehicle running a mass-air setup :)
