Bringing her back...

Re: Bringing her back...

People see a few of my cars I painted that are at my shop then ask oh how much to do mine. I say no and they pissed off. Pretty much anyone but a painter have no clue how much time and work it takes to properly prep a vehicle for paint. Doesn't matter how good of a painter or what materials you have lined up to use. And no amount of after the fact sanding and buffing can fix poor prep work.
I agree that extra paint doesn't hurt anything. Allows you to wetsand with a block starting at 400 if needed and ending in the 2000 range before buffing.

Daughter spent the week at the grandparents, so I was able to get a few odds and ends accomplished:

Bringing her back...

When I said odds and ends, I meant I finally painted it.

Here it is being wet-sanded. Since the picture, I finished with 2000 grit and washed the truck. Waiting to get my buffer back tomorrow morning and get it polished!

The bed is getting Rhino-lined. That's why there isn't any paint in the bed. It will get sanded to the epoxy primer and the. I will let them finish it to their specs.

I guess you better change your sig - looks like it's out of purgatory!

Great work. Hope to emulate your success one day myself.

Looks superb!

Re: Bringing her back...

I laid out the new ACC carpet for the truck and wasn't impressed. I then took the original carpet in to work today and used the pressure washer, 15 gallons of water and laundry soap. It came out looking great. It is drying in the sun, since I left the underlayment on. Really the best way to do it since trying to pull the underlayment off was going to result in tearing it all up.

Tomorrow I will get it installed and the doors hung. Then onto adjusting the tailgate. It looks like both sides need to have the brackets holes elongated and then some other mods to get the bed over to the right an 1/8 of an inch. Any tricks for this? The factory alignment was really off (and I am using the same tailgate/bed combination).

I will sell the new ACC carpet cheap (but shippping might suck)....

I finished up hanging the doors and aligning the tailgate. Each pivot mount for the tailgate needed to be elongated an 1/8" or so and one tailgate side had to be cut down 1/8" to square the gate in the opening. Carpet is in, as are the seat belts, and door seals. Tomorrow I will clean the seats and install them. The PO removed the console "bucket" when he installed the B&M shifter (which runs the cable through the rear of the shifter). I need to track one of these down next. I had already purchased a factory shifter assembly to replace it.

Re: Bringing her back...

Installed the back glass and am waiting on the rear speakers to put the seats back in.
Ordered up the Belltech springs and key ways, 17" tires and silver ZR1s, setback plates and a shifter knob. Progress I suppose!

I got parts man, I'm local too! We need to setup a meet when everyone gets their trucks together.
