Re: Car shippers

I can only recommend one NOT to ship with. Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS) has a horrid reputation.

Also...do NOT use "Allen Auto Transport" out of Marina del Rey, California (if they're even still in business). Not even for a daily driver. (long story)

I spoke to my dad...who doesn't own a sy or ty, but a 1935 Packard. He used Leroy Koop at 303-880-3838 (Denver Area) who shipped the "Blond Bombshell" from Denver to South Carolina and back without a scratch. They will be using him again this spring to ship it for a tour in Houston. He said the price was pretty reasonable, and he was very happy with the service. Trailer was fully enclosed.

Fly where ever the truck is and drive it back if its driveable.

If its not. Rent a truck and trailer and go get it.

I thought about having mine shipped down to me, but now that I went and got it. I would of kicked myself in the ass if I had shipped it. It was a fun trip.

Re: Car shippers

I had a frame (rolling chassis) shipped from Florida to NJ using www.Uship.com. A long shot, but hey -you never know. I paid about $400.

Ask whomever you use for references and by God call those references and ask questions.

+1

I will NEVER ship a vehicle again. Period. I will do whatever it takes to drive it myself or if it's too far trailer it myself.

Re: Car shippers

Wow, once again you guys are life savers. I am moving from Detroit to Oakland and I have my collection that I want/need to take with me. I am not looking forward to the move for a number of reasons but I was planning to ship my GTP out tomorrow through DAS--but thanks to "Pimp Daddy" I think I will wait and send it out next week through another vendor. I couldn't figure out why DAS was so much cheaper than the competitors--now I know.

I have three rather nice vehicles that I need to ship. I'm not trying to highjack your thread but do you guys know of any haulers that might give a multi-car discount for shipping a Grand National, Typhoon, and Turbo TA...then again I might want to put them on separate rigs just in case something happens.

Thanks

Re: Car shippers

Well...I went with a-aaa auto shippers as suggested and they had a good price but, it has been a month since I signed the contract and the truck has not been picked up yet. To make things worse all I get when I call these people is the run around. I'm shipping from Belprie,OH to Killeen, TX. ANyone have any advice. Flying and driving it down and rentting a trailer to go get it are not options. I can not take off from my business.

Based on that testimony/review I would say your search for a reputable shipper has come to an end.

Re: Car shippers

I would just like to put my experiece that I had while trying to get my ty shipped from oh to tx. I went with aaa auto shippers as suggested and they gave me a good quote and were very helpful at first. Weeks went by without the truck being picked up. At first all I got from them was the run-a-round. I then compalined and talked to one one the people that ran the company and I was told that they were working on a schedule. 5 weeks later when the truck had not been picked up yet...I went with the only shipper that could get to it within a month. I went with DAS and I was very impressed. I was able to get my trck quickly without damage and for the same price aaa was going to charge me. Just my experience.
