Cladding

Thinking of a cladding delete. Who here has done it? I've seen some over the years, but are there active members who have naked SyTys?

TIA

Re: Cladding

I don't get whats the point of cladding removal, v8 swaps, 2 wheel drive conversions, lifted 4x4 conversions to these trucks.... they were a limited run specialty truck.... theres thousands of blazers, jimmys, sonomas, and s10 trucks out there to personalize that would be a lot cheaper than buying a sy/ty to do it with

Brosiff, these things are limited, but they aren't worth crap. Only those that are 10 second 1/4 mile rigs or ultra low mile heated garage queens will ever be worth anything more than the 10k mark (usually).

As for being "rare," I don't agree. I see at least one every day! :rotf: Seriously though, there is usually a good selection of these trucks for sale year round. Sometimes it gets slim, but there are always deals to be had.

This is my third Typhoon. I will do with it as I please.

Re: Cladding

you can do with it as you please- its your truck. im just saying from a financial stand point I would think you would be better suited doing a jimmy than a typhoon. you can pick up a ultra clean jimmy or bravada for 1000$ and play with it. usualy your spending 6 times that on a beat up typhoon. then when you remove the cladding you get to deal with all of the paint chaffing and rust from where the cladding used to be

I paid 650$ for a garage kept awd bravada last year with 70K on it

You clearly love your truck too much.

To answer your question, not unless they are cancerous!

Re: Cladding

I think it's a great idea. As a matter of fact, I'm thinking of doing the transmition delete on my truck and while I'm at it, delete the transfer case as well. It should be simple enough! Then cut a whole in the floor board and power it the way of Fred Flinstone, and even hiper mile while I'm at it. Imagine how much lighter my truck would be and how much gas I'll save, and what little environmental footprint (no pon intended here) I will leave.

Re: Cladding

I figure my cladding delete will come when it becomes too damaged to repair and too expensive to replace. Otherwise, it is staying.

Re: Cladding

Whats the point of taking the cladding off for the "sleeper" look when 90% of people dont know what a typhoon is anyway. People either think its a s10 extream or a twin turbo v8 mythical truck
