Coming to Florida

Me and my wife will be in Fl on the 15th of June till July 2nd. Would like to see some SyTy'ers. Also doing a lot of fishing while there and aimless driving around, oh and drinking. Lots of drinking.

I want to do some deep sea fishing for Amber jacks and maybe grouper. Wouldn't mind putting together a six pack charter or something like that.

We will be in Palmetto at my aunts, but will be traveling to the keys for a day or two, going to some state parks and whatnot.

Re: Coming to Florida

Cool. I have met Harmon and King and i am sure a couple others from when i was at Nats. Looking forward to seeing you guys again.

On a separate note, i have talked with a 6 pack charter captain out of St. Pete's about a fishing trip for some big fish and feel confident a good time could be had there, if anybody wants to join, it will lessen the cost. looking for 2 to 4 people to come along. Depending on the fish and how far out they are, the trip is 850-950 per full day trip. Sounds like a lot, but only gratuity is not included, they have everything. And kinda do all the lame work of fishing for you. The charter is Jaw Breaker, and has a pretty nice boat. Not one of those small bass boat conversions that rock from side to side if you twitch kinda boats. jawbreakerfishing.com

I really want to hook into some reef donkeys, however, i would not say no to tarpon. We are flying and getting a rental car.

Re: Coming to Florida

Yeah they do. I have never caught one, but i have caught their brother, yellowtail. they look identical with the exception of the "mascara". http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...1t:429,r:7,s:300&tx=61&ty=80&biw=1280&bih=578

The amber is on top, and get way larger than pacific yellowtail, with the exception of giant yellowtail which are way south usually by Guadalupe Island and so forth. They get around the same size.

During major tournaments most sharks will hang around the Tarpon and wait for one to get hooked, then it's a free meal.

Yeah, the guide said at times it makes more sense to fish for shark than other gilled creatures. It is something i am used to being an old cali boat captain and friend of many sport boat captains and deckhands. I used to do tournaments for fresh water bass, and some salt stuff. Damn i miss it but it is really expensive, just can't justify it anymore.

Red Snapper season is now open. although gulf grouper is still no catch. Lots of redfish, snook, mac's, and tarpon in and around the bay. If i get a day off work i will be out fishing again.

Yeah, i'll mostly be fishing off my Aunts dock. but down for anywhere. people are welcome to join me at her house too. she is right at the very top by the Crab Trap restaurant. I fish 4# line in those areas, caught a 6+ pound black drum off therein february last year when almost all the fish were dead from the cold. Also caught a nice flounder, a ton of stingrays, and some real decent sheepshead.

anyone down fora bbq? can grill up some fresh fish and other good stuff.
