Hi guys,
Has anyone ever replaced mechanical engine fan with electrical? Is there any advantages or disadvantages? If yes which would you recommend?

Thanks

Advantage, more room for airflow or for modifications or for working on your truck. May lessen the mechanical load on the engine.

Disadvantage - huge load on the truck electrically, airflow is not as good as the mechanical fan & stock shroud.

IMHO - if your thermostatically controlled fan clutch is working properly, you probably won't gain much. BUT - if you have got an off the shelf - Pep Boys special, you may stand to gain. I would make sure your stocker is working properly. Under most conditions you should not be able to detect any excessive fan noise.

Check into a 160 deg. or 180 deg. thermostat (Robertshaw brand) . They help keep the heat down.

There was talk about the e-fan used in the Lincoln MKVIII. I believe Ken (Warmpancakes) said its' output was like 5000 cfm. That's very close to the stocker.

Anybody try it out yet?

Thank you all of you guys.
My fan does make loud noise and I notice performance drop (it may be just my imagination). I will research farther and let you know.

thats right the lincoln fan is awesome but is priced over 300 bones. I know that I and several others have used the black magic 2800 cfm fan and its fine until the OAT starts to rise above 75 or so then you better be careful.

there is a guy in florida that rebuilds stock fan clutches. he uses a heavier oil and says they are bullit proof and you could use it on a race application. i had him do a pair of rare early vette ones for me and they worked awesome! his name is fred oliva and his number is 954-344-2215 cost was around $150.00 each.

I did a fan from a DB 200 compressor that is very powerfull.
Can NOT drop temp in traffic when it comes near 175 * with OAT about 80*
It migth be the blocking from the two tranny coolers on the right side and one oil cooler on the left side though...........
