Should I get the Summit fiberglass Harwood Hood or the RK steel hood. What do your personal experiences say?

get the goodmark steel hood...

ive got the harwood fiberglass....i learned my lesson... it looks good, but its a pain to get it to fit perfect and all the prep work to cut and trim the thing...i spent quite a few hours on it and its still not to my perfection...and ive done fiberglass work for 14 years now...(why i wanted the fiberglass)

never again.

where do you get the goodmark hoods from and how much are they?

if RK marks up there hoods like they do all their other stuff, be prepared to take a loan if you get something from them. It would probably be cheaper to buy directly from Goodmark

What about Cervini fiberglass hoods? I am going to keep the stock hood on my SY , but I would like a SS style hood for my S10.

I have had all the stuff besides the Cervini hood. Ive talked to a few ppl at shows/races that have the cervini and they hated it. Said it was poor quality. I dunno for sure just what they said.

The harwood glass hood I had took TONS of prep work and fit ok until I got the truck out in the sun. The heat would make it expand/contract causing it to not fit right. On top of that the rear of the scoop would wave at you through the windshield at speeds above ~60mph. I hated that thing.

The goodmark is more durable and not as "floppy". Less work to get it looking good. About the same work as glass to get it to look "show" perfect. Im talking SEMA or world of wheels show car perfect.

As for price of the good mark.... Ummm RK sells em cheaper than good mark can from the prices Ive compared. Can you find it cheaper? Prolly. Id rather spend a few dollars more to support a syty vendor than jo shmo's parts place. We don have a lot of vendors to choose from so Id like to keep the ones we have around.

just my .02

List members,

Ever wonder why there are less and less Sy/Ty specific vendors and shops out there or why the Original Sy/Ty mailing list is down at least 80% from it's original members and posts? Even over here alot of trash and bashing of members and then these same people go to other message boards and start trouble for the hell of it and brag about it.

I bet you can't find the answers in the above posts.

And to the members who will be attending this years Nats. we will continue to support the gathering as we have done in the past by giving away Free Sy/Ty items and hopefully more vendors will get involved.

Also on a side note, the Goodmark steel cowl hood is the finest on the market and that is the reason why we carry it. There is very little prep work needed and it fits like a glove. My old stock hood use to vibrate at high speed no matter how I adjusted the front bumpers but this hood is rock solid.

I got my hood from RK,he's good to deal with and I don't think your going to find it any cheaper.I also don't think RK is high on any of his stuff,my guess is that your talking about the ATR stuff he sales,ATR is just real proud of there stuff, nothing Rick can do about that.Jack

I have a Goodmark hood, and I love it! Looks great & fits well. I've used fiberglass hoods in the past-they're alot of work and a pain. The Goodmark hood is well made, has cross supports underneath and open in the back. I agree that we should support syty venders esp the good ones. It seems from my limited experience that RK Kustoms is a good one. Get it from him it's $20 cheeper.

Well I guess everyone is bitching about my post. I didnt mean to bash or put down a vendor, but the few things I have looked up or products suggested to that they have, I have been able to find it considerably cheaper. I'm sorry, but saving money is sometimes a little more important to some of us. Sorry to rain on the parade, I know RK has alot of exclusive stuff, but some items just arent worth it.

List members,

The next time someone needs one of the finest Exhaust systems out there go see the guy above and he'll save you $35.00 on Free shipping and make sure it'shipped the same day.

Also maybe he would also like to donate some items to this years Nats or convince one of the vendors he knows who sell cheap items or maybe he'll spend some money on taking out a Banner ad to help support this site which he likes to visit.

Hey Rick,

Maybe if I wasnt trying to put myself through college and start a family I would actually get upset by your reply. Sorry I cant just piss away money like its water like everyone else seems to do.
Dont be so full of youself and chill out. I wasnt bashing you, but there ARE a few items that I sometimes wonder where the prices came from. I know you gotta make a buck too, but c'mon, $75 + shipping for a Rancho steering stabilizer I can get at my LOCAL shop for $50 + gas money....
I try my best to give a hand and support everyone in the community. I answer question, help find info and parts, organize meets, and help some of the OG head honchs with web pages and VIN #'s. Dont give me shit cause I cant piss away my money. Blow it out your ass, see ya at the NATS!

Remember what board you are on here Morgan. The general idea on this one is NOT to get yourself banned.

There are alot more people here with good things to say about Rick than bad. I personally find his prices pretty much the exact same as everyone else. Must be some colusion going on.

I already said i was sorry and didnt mean to come off as bashing him or his business. If he is too much of a baby to accept it, then there is nothing else i can do.
