Re: decal install

the vault should be update as there was a thread around here that showed 2 different methods of decal placement on Tys, some are closer to the center, I don't think a consensus was reached as to why its different on some trucks

**DO NOT USE THESE MEASUREMENTS, THEY ARE NOT UP TO DATE!

Out of the billions of trucks ive seen, there are a good amount that dont stick to the factory specs, but are original....but most have these measurements:

Left door---- From front edge of cladding to the left edge of the letter T
= 5 1/2"
From top edge of cladding to the letters- TYPHOON
= 1/2"
Right door-- From front edge of cladding to the letter N = 5 1/2"
From top edge of cladding to the letters - TYPHOON
= 1/2"
Tailgate ---- From left lower edge of tailgate to the letter T = 1"
From lower edge of tailgate to the bottom edge of the
letters- 1 3/4"

GMC TRUCK The K should be 1 3/4" from the right edge of the tailgate and
the letters "GMC TRUCK" should be 1 3/4" above the bottom edge of the
tailgate.

Re: decal install

many stock unpainted trucks were checked, but we need to decide which placement will be most correct and consider a few suggestions for measuring......i went through this the other day and i found that if you measure from the bottom of the door cladding to the top of the "TYPHOON" letters, you get more of a "true" measurement out of a measuring tape....this goes for the tailgate "TYPHOON" placement as well...the bottom of the "TYPHOON" letters are too uneven and confusing as to which ending letter (N) to measure from....in the vault (all due respect for bdubb) it says to measure from the "top edge of cladding to the letters"....tailgate instructions say "lower edge of tailgate" that edge is a dip in the metal work of the tailgate....should be measured from the bottom of the ty tailgate to the top of the "TYPHOON" letters to get it straight....the bottom of "TYPHOON" is very inconsistent and we should base all measurements from the top of the letters to the very bottom of the mounting surface ....

perhaps someone could re-measure the average stock Ty (the above suggested manner) and let us know as i don't have an original one to check....

what about the syclone decal install

i should be attending an s-series meet tomorrow....i'll see about measuring up an unrepainted sy and or ty if i see one....a guy i know figured this out for me by using his vinyl lettering software....he measured my tailgate width by height then plugged the measurements into a photo that i found on a syclone gallery....worked pretty good....

Re: decal install

the following photo's show what happens when you base your "typhoon" measurements from the bottom of the letters....if you notice the kwiksix truck, (which i believe to be stock, unrepainted) they likely based their measurements from the top of "typhoon"....the black truck has obviously been painted due to the door stickers being way off..... they probably followed the vault directions on that one and obviously measured from the bottom of the letters....i did what the vault suggested and ended up with what you see on the bottom photo...
