Disabling ABS

I found out last night I hate my ABS. Every time I buy a vehicle I like to try it out and see how it feels just in case I get into one of those situations. I'm going down a steep hill coming to a stop sign, I move over to the right and get the right side tires into a little tree dirt that fell during a storm, nail the brakes, anti-lock kicks in, pedal goes to floor and I almost went through the intersection. Scared the hell outa me
This is the same place I always test ABS on vehicle. That never happened before. I've always stopped in short order. Question is, I want ABS disabled. Can I just pull the fuse. I don't care if the light stays on. I'll pull the dash and yank the bulb. I also tried them later on in the evening when it was raining. I was on a straight section of road doing about 20mph and stomped the pedal. Very violent jerking and didn't stop well at all. I can do a much better job of stopping in those situations myself without electronic assistance![/b]

Common complain on the syty's.

I've *heard* that by removing power to the ABS, it is effectively disabled.

Yeah mine is unplugged and it does not throw any codes.
Looking down at the ABS unit from the front of the truck unplug the connector on the left, thats the power harness.

No the light isn't on and yes I can lock up the fronts = NO ABS.

Would you be interested in puling your ABS altogether?
Mine is disconencted because my ABS unit is bad and I'd like to replace it, but not for $400.

Anyone else who deleted the ABS have a working Main unit for reasonable>?
Stabell, bet you have a shelf full of em...

Thanks for the info guys. I'll disconnect it. I think I want to keep the unit on there for resale purposes. If I decide to pull it I'll let you know.

I disconnected it as described and the red brake light came on. So, I hooked it back up for now till I find something else to try. Now the ABS light is on all the time  .Do I need to pull the bat. cable to to reset it?

Is your parking brake on???
The ABD light is an orange light that says Anti Lock.

You sure you unplugged the correct connector>?
It is the one closest to the passenger side of the truck.

Parking break was off. If I applied it, the light would get slightly brighter. Yes, it said Anti Lock. Pretty sure I pulled the right plug. It was on the top of the unit towards the passenger side. There was another plug directly below it.
