I think the culprit is someone who already paid you George. I have been kicking this around for a while now and nothing else really makes any sense. I think once that person met you, got his shaft and then realized you didn't really have a way to verify who you gave stuff out to, they decided to take advantage of you. I think the balls it would take to come up to you and risk getting caught misrepresenting himself is just beyond the bravado of the pussy responsible for this deal. For one, he would HAVE to know that Kelly didnt already come up to you and retrieve his shaft earlier. This person knew you hadnt delivered it yet. You could have done it 5 minutes before for all any layman would have known. No, this dude was sure you still hadnt given that shaft to Kelly. I think the pool of people that would have known that is very very small?
I dont know Kelly from Adam, but I bet he is either your guy, or is buddies with the guy.

George, I really think you should call Milan PD and make a report on Larceny by trick. They should be able to do it over the phone, given your location. Once you id the guy, he can be properly prosecuted. Thats the only thing that would teach this idiot anything. It may seem like a lot of work, but it shouldn't be too bad for you to follow through. I wish I had jurisdiction to take care of this for you. I will assist in any way possible. If you do contact them, I can give them a call and talk to the detective to make sure he follows through and pushes things properly.

Yep. I trusted guys to tell me who they were. Like I said, this is VERY odd. I'll know who it is or have it narrowed down shortly. I have a responsibility to the people that took care of me to prevent this from happening again and do what I can to settle this incident. It would really make me sick to discover it was someone that already paid on the GP and double dipped.

I actually used to check IDs for parts pickup at events when i set-up a vendor booth. you never know. I was dealing with streetbike stunt riders though... not the most reputable people. Who would have thought youd have to worry about it with SyTy guys.

...George, I searched through all of Claire`s pictures at the track without any "detective" success.
I was hoping I could "help"...(stuff like this really makes me mad as we`re a very small
family that seems vulnerable to the many scams out there anymore).

Looking back there were several people that left the track early and didnt show up for the BBQ,
hotel, or show (not that that narrows it down much). Then there was the camero dude who
showed his vehicle at the show, paid for raffle tickets, and won (harmless but weird none the less).
I was told later that he was a local guy and routinely crashes car events.

Stealing from anybody at a trusted event like this is about as low as you can go...like stealing from relatives.
(I gotta say both Claire and I had a wonderful time talking you, Marty, Merk, Jimmy..
and everyone else that made this event so super so keep a positive attitude). Theft aside, I will not let this individual
bum me out, especially with the support demonstrated by this thread. So hang in there.

Even the donations collected for Lisa during the Homecoming shows the kindness of this community. One bad apple hopefully wont spoil it for the rest of us....

I about threw up when you sent me a PM about this ordeal. What a shame. Thinking about when we were at the track I do remember the Syclone you talked about parked over on the other side and was gone very quicky. I don't have any more details but I thought it was strange that it wasn't parked over where everyone could look at it and all the sudden it was gone.
Anything I can do let me know!

Yea.. that jackass parked his slow ass stupidcharged car right next to our Typhoon. I about asked him not to bring down the value of our truck by parking that there. If he's got a problem with that I'd gladly run him with my 86 V6 Camaro
If he's going to attend next years event tell him to bring it to the track and we'll see who does the crashing!

I've got a friend that owes me a favor.
I've talked to him this morning and due to the value of the item stolen, he recomended filing a police report with Milan(will do that today), but not to expect much from them. He will take the info I give him and follow up (running plates and such). Using the phone number from T-Mobile, etc.
I've hired Kristanoff Enterprises. He does this kind of stuff all the time. This kind of situation really got him interested due to the fellow being brave enough to walk up, play straight, and walk away. He thinks the guy(s) have done it before. If anybody has any pics of the area where it happened as stated earlier in the thread please email them to me at the address on the information section under my profile. He said the track will have tons of video that they run for insurance purposes as well but a guy like me can't get it. He can.
He's also advised not to put anything else up here because it may interfere with what he's doing.
I can't thank you guys enough for taking care of me in light of what happened. I'll do something for Nationals this year.

Am I the only one who thinks there's a possibility it wasn't outright planned theft? Has anything happened that proves beyond all doubt, that it was absolutely willfull theft? I started reading the posts and it felt like everyone was jumping to conclusions, then George got the phone call and I couldnt make sense if that proved it or not. I'm wondering if this was an honest mistake and someone out there doesn't even realize it yet. It seems totally absurd that someone would plot to steal a performance propshaft for a GMC Syclone.. not exactly a hot item to flip on the black market. Don't hesitate to correct me if I overlooked something obvious though.

well they only knew about the propshaft via this website...so you'd think an accidentally guilty party would fess up at this point. I don't think there is a possibility that someone doesn't realize that they didn't pay for something.

Honest mistake went out the window a long time ago. When a guy comes up and says he's someone, you give him a part. 2 days later the "same" person asks you where it's at. Then they finally send you a picture and it doesn't match the person you talked to in person. Yeah. It was planned. Person at the track knew way too much. I can't comment on much else. The phone call was very interesting. I know who the person is that called. Didn't take much to figure that out.

That's one of the reasons I can't give it out if/when he figures it out. It will fall back on me if someone takes it upon themself to take it out of his ass. I've already talked to the city's prosecuting attorney here in town(I get to see them every now and then because of my job)and it would absolutely open a shot at a civil suit against me. Protect the criminal. The way of the justice system.

I found humor in it but I guess it could have rubbed folks the wrong way....
