Electrical prob - Ignition / Charging

Need to find out about a problem on a Typhoon:

There is a ground short in the ignition hot pink/black wire that energizes the electrical system when the key is turned forward. When the ignition gauges fuse blows from the short, the alternator doesn't send charge signal to the battery.

Does anyone have a clue on the pink wire or has experience in knowing how to fix this sort of problem?

Im told the pink wire looms all around in the harness. I havent yet checked the wiring diagrams.

I'll be the first to admit, I suck at electrical work so im useless when it comes to this stuff.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

this might help...i had a similar problem...i removed the dash to replace the wire...if it is the same problem as mine, that wire powers the ecm....you can see my pink/black wire on the pic below when i unloomed my harness to replace it...in my case, the culprit was the orange wire out of the 2 that go to the turbo boost solenoid...just a thought...

ok, bare with me here, remember i suck at this and would like to learn, so take it easy on me :)

Are the pictures below the correct diagram to be looking at? If so, which pink/black do i need to follow to track down the problem mentioned above?

If someone could highlight it, or give me some more direction....

+ means postive, - means negative :)

if i could get to orlando on its own power, it probably would be over there...

actually, been talking with someone who knows the truck well and he thinks is going to be something stupid in the wiring, and not in the harness. Right now, im going with a bad ECM or possibly the gauges that are installed in the truck to begin with.

Either way, when I finally have the truck in front of me, I'll probably do a trace from the fuse that keeps blowing and go from there.

personally, i'd start disconnecting all the electrical stuff that's been put on the truck. disconnect all the stereo stuff, the electric fans and possibly head unit. start taking all the non-stock stuff out of there to make it easy to track down.

ask pearson if he remembers at what point the problem started. possibly the addition of something electrical that caused all this. could be a pinched wire somewhere in the system.

before you start ripping everything apart start with the easy stuff then get bigger. can you start the truck and it runs for a while then dies, or does the fuse blow as soon as you try and start the truck? what are the symptoms. i kept hearing that it would drain the battery but never got all the details.

It probably is something really dumb. When ever you get the truck and if you can't figure it out I have the diagram here so I might be able to help over the phone otherwise iI might be taking a trip to lakeland.
