Fluttering tach, love the search feature.

Searched about tach flutter.
Ignition
Ignition
Ignition.

And it was ignition! Rotor was fried.. literally..melted, but other than the melting, looked very new.

Could it have been possible to run too much voltage or something similar while having a stereo installed professionally if a mistake was made?

Really hot intake temps possibly?

IC Pump Running?

Are you running an MSD Box? Never heard of it causing that.

A hot coil will be harder on the cap n rotors.

The stock coils are fine until you start getting pretty hectic HP wise.

IC Pump was not hotwired when I got the truck, so really high intake temps are possible.
Is now hotwired, and when done driving, the Upper IC is ambient temp.
No MSD box. Other than an ultimate chip, 3 bar sensor, AFPR, Walbro in tank 255 pump, it's stock to my knowledge.

Re: Fluttering tach, love the search feature.

My tach jumps at 4000 rpm in 3th gear (basicallu one flutter). I have recent wires, plugs, cap rotors and I have tried swaping known good coilscoil but it doesn't seem to help. My wiring to the coil seems fine (no alarms tapped into it). I am running out of ignition parts to try, could it be my distributor? Or is it just flaw in my tach...it is pretty repeatable.
