if i was going to change the watsegate to the forge ..would the i still be able to control the boost via the stock emc?
i was thinking about keeping the stock boost control solenoid .. pros or cons to that idea?

Re: Forge Motorsport Billet Wastegate

I don't think it works like that.

All the factory stuff is bypassed.

You set it up to your boost preference with a spring.

My PTE WG I set up for 10# ( on a big turbo ) to be safe. After some diagnostics you can turn the wick up...( my truck is NOT stock).

Not with the springs that come with it. I did try just for kicks and it did not work at all. If they had a 8 pound or lighter spring maybe. I had 10-14-18 springs.

Re: Forge Motorsport Billet Wastegate

I installed the forge wast gate last year and have it connected to stock boost control solenoid and it never worked right. I haven't gotten to the truck yet to work on it but I was told from Tom to not connect the solenoid because it will not work right.

Re: Forge Motorsport Billet Wastegate

The whole point of the Forge WG is to provide more consistent and stable boost control. The factory WG solenoid with a stock tune has terrible boost control. It can be improved with tuning. This eliminates it from the equation and bases the peak boost off the rod and spring. HTH

I would suggest to get more than one spring if you order one. The different (colored) springs will allow different boost levels. Sportmachines sells them and is a donating member. So, support them.

Re: Forge Motorsport Billet Wastegate

Thank you! We include an additional spring with all the waste gates. They come with a 12-14# spring, and we include the 14-18# spring

Re: Forge Motorsport Billet Wastegate

I must say the best simplest mod to any Stock truck is this Wastegate. You will never look back.. your truck will get into boost 2x as fast and maintain boost throughout the power range. This is a must have :)

Re: Forge Motorsport Billet Wastegate

sounds like the forged plus a manual boost controller is a good combo for a higher boost programming. Use the 14-18# spring with a controller and dial it into the level you want for the tune and enjoy.
