Fuel gauge

After about 10 years, I finally decided to start, or start the process of starting the truck. Had put oil in the pan and fluids such as coolant and trans fluid in. Been having nothing but problems with the fuel tank. I just don't know why. Just a hurdle Everytime I'm working on stuff under there. Now, this time I'm seeing NO fuel gauge activity. The gauge went ALL the way UP to Full. I only put 4.5 measured gallons in the tank. Only because I didn't want to fill it and have to drop it ( like i already immediately had happen yesterday- supply feed hose from fuel tank unit was loose weeping fuel under pressure). Fun job to drop it so soon again. Now im just scratching my head again because the gauge doesn't register.

An OPEN circuit results in a FULL reading. Be sure the purple wire and both grounds are making connection.

This may not be relevant, but if you have a Racetronix fuel pump harness installed, it may be. The (3) Racetronix harnesses I worked with a few years back had the purple and gray wires in the connector backwards. The first truck I had not installed the harness, it was towed to my place. I found the problem, fixed it, replaced the sender (it was burned up from the mistake) and the truck ran. I was given 2 more harnesses to install by owners who brought their truck to me for a sorting. I knew to check the wires, they were both wrong, and I fixed them before any damage was done.

That's so unfortunate. I feel like that has already bit me in the ass. I remember the connectors. Now there dumb mistake is going to set me back. I'm tired of taking the tank up and down. Or down and up and down again and back up. What a mess. Not trying to complain but it's just not my day. I'm just Batting a hundred today.

I do have the racetronox kit.

My map sensor also is all over the place like a earthquake seismograph. Just jumps around. Goes to the top.

Was a ground off at the fuel neck every thing is working on the cluster now. The map I took apart looked at it. Map reading seems steady still struggling with the truck . Doesn't want to idle or run. Seem like a misfire have to look the plug wires over again heavily see if ones crossed.
