Fuel Rail problems

I was wrenching on the Sy yesterday and noticed the smell of fuel in the engine bay. I then began looking around and found a hair line fracture in the fuel rail where it has the nipple for pressure release. Has anyone ever encountered that before? Is this common? Is it something thats fixable with some kind of epoxy weld or do I just need a new one? In the real world I'd like to just stuff it with some kind of epoxy not sure it'll take care of it. Any help is greatly appreciated. thx guys!

Re: Fuel Rail problems

Very common when a big chunk of fuel pressure gauge/ sending unit is dangling off of it.. I believe more than 1 truck has been burnt because of this. Get a new rail and don't put the gauge/ sending unit on. Use a hose to remote mount it so the weight is off the rail.:2cents:

Re: Fuel Rail problems

Does a Ty rail fit a Sy? I have an extra one (Ty) but once heard they're different. Is this true? Who sells new ones?

Not the same (not sure exactly the difference, I think ones longer @ the fuel in connection?) . No new ones, Tom@ Sportmachines likely has 1. If not someone else on here will have a spare I'm sure.

Re: Fuel Rail problems

Sy rail connects in the middle, the Ty connects in the back so they are definitely different.

There is a fitting that Whipple used to sell that went under the cab in the fuel line just after the filter that I
am using.

Even better idea. Any idea if there is something comparable available now?

Re: Fuel Rail problems

You can remove the paint and weld it. Or if you don't have the actual ability to weld it. Then can just remove it and give to a local welder. Definitely will want to TIG weld it tho.

Sweet.. I may just do that. Not good with the welding, but thx for the advise.

Re: Fuel Rail problems

This is the -6AN version of an 1/8"NPT sending unit adapter..
http://www.jegs.com/i/Earls/361/100199/10002/-1?parentProductId=749436

Our stock fuel feed line should be a 16mm x 1.5 O-ringed or saginaw.
This is NOT the fitting in question, but it does show the 16x1.5 O-ring end of another adapter for reference.

Its been awhile since I've done an -AN conversion but I do have all the fitting part #s and threads for reference at:
